Cool drive operation, no-touch head technology, and leading-edge vibration protection ensure enhanced reliability and sustained data throughput. And we back it all up with a 5-year limited warranty.

Features:
• Dual processor - Twice the processing power to maximize performance.
• Colossal cache - Bigger, faster cache of up to 64 MB means faster performance. Rock Solid Mechanical Architecture
• Dual actuator technology - A head positioning system with two actuators that improves positional accuracy over the data track(s). The primary actuator provides coarse displacement using conventional electromagnetic actuator principles. The secondary actuator uses piezoelectric motion to fine tune the head positioning to a higher degree of accuracy. (2 TB only)
• StableTrac - The motor shaft is secured at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations.
• NoTouch ramp load technology - The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit.
Massive Capacity - WD Caviar Black SATA drives are available in capacities up to 2 TB.
Compatible - We perform tests on hundreds of systems and a multitude of platforms in our FIT Lab™ and Mobile Compatibility Lab to give our customers confidence that our drives will work in their systems.

I suspect the SATA 6 drives are coming soon - like the Hitachi 7K3000 series at capacities of up to 3tb…

    • there is SATA 6? i thought SATA 3 only released like last yr.

on a side note: can this drive run on my old sata 2 mobo?

      • This one is SATA 6…

      • +1

SATA6 = SATA3. Its just how people refer to the sata series, either by revision (3) or by speed (6Gbps).

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#Terminology

Also, your sata2 mobo should be forwards compatible as sata3 is not that different.

        • +3

          Morons, your confusing him.

SATA 3 has 6Gbit/s (GigaBit's per Second) of bandwidth.

That's why idiots refer to it as "SATA 6", which is incorrect.

Read the link in the comment to which you reply before calling people "idiots", lest you prove yourself to be one.

if you ever go to uni, lecturer will tell you wikipedia is not a valid reference

        • If you ever go to a decent uni, a decent lecturer will tell you wikipedia is a good source of acceptable references.

          Fix'd.

Or, if you aren't totally oblivious to those little numbers, you'll notice it yourself.

thanks guys, we should always go by the revision! SATA 3 has 6

  • would be a bargain if it's 3TB

      Agreed.

$179.99 INCLUDING postage = great deal IMHO.

My local independent (Megaware Computers) has them for $179.00 but - for the sake of $0.99 - I'll save myself the hassle of driving to the shop by ordering online and having it delivered to work.

    Thank you, OP!

    • +6

That 99c savings gonna come in real handy it fails under warranty etc, and you get to drive to the post office and queue up to post it back and forth.

      • -3

Your likely to be posting it to Singapore no matter who you buy it from.

        • +6

No way. You take it to where you bought it from. That's their job.

      • would be even more handy if they claim you damaged the item by not packaging it properly. ie no bubble wrap, cautions on the packages…

msy has had them at this price for months…

    WD 3.5" Black 2TB WD2002FAEX SATA3 7200rpm HDD Was $249.00 Now $179.00

    • -2

Its a great deal if you are 400 km's from your nearest msy like me ;)
The free shipping is great value as mwave use AAE and I have always received my order the next day!

  • +1

Cheaper elsewhere Mwave yet again you proove yourself to be a step behind the game and you obviously love to spam your not so special specials

    • That's a bit rough mate. These guys used to be my local when I lived in Sydney and always looked after me. Their prices consistently keep up with MSY and have about about a billion times better customer service than the MSY's in Sydney. With delivery this is definitely a good deal.

The PCDIY shop down the road also is top-notch with customer service and pricing.
