Ordered Clothing on David Jones Website, But Came From The Iconic??

So basically I thought I'd make a quick post about my experience shopping on the David Jones website recently, as I'm a little peeved as it seems to have come from The Iconic. My experience with The Iconic in the past is that they sell garments that are similar to the original, but are not the same. Eg. I recently purchased another pair of Running Bare Classic Yoga Pants through The Iconic, because they were discounted and I honestly didn't feel like driving all the way out to their only store at Doncaster when I knew exactly what I wanted. The Running Bare pants from The Iconic were definitely DEFINITELY not the same pants. They were not high waisted, had a different pocket and were shorter than the original, so I sent them back vowing to never shop at The Iconic again.

Now I shop on the David Jones website, but my David Lawrence top comes from The Iconic. It wasn't cheap and was only slightly discounted on the David Jones sale, but they had my size which was sold out everywhere else. I own this exact same top in two different colours and was happy to have found it in white, but this top is different in fabric and has been sewn completely differently to the other two exact same tops.

I'm just disappointed as I ordered it from David Jones and expected it to come from David Jones, not some (alleged) counterfeit website. I will now be only shopping at David Jones in store if I shop there, but seriously will probably just shop at Myer if I shop at a department store as Myer have always had exceptional service in store and I've never had a problem ordering on their website.

I know StrawberryNet sells dodgy (alleged) counterfeit skin care and cosmetics and seem to be able to operate perfectly fine within Australia, now it seems maybe The Iconic is the StrawberryNet of the clothing world.

Anyway I was just wondering if others have had similar experiences? I look forward to your opinions.

EDIT: This is a photo of how it arrived - https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/72550/67188/20190227_2…

Mod: Added 'alleged'.

Big claim to say that The Iconic sell counterfeit. Would love to hear where you got your source from, and not just your own analysis/opinion?

I've purchased from The Iconic before and haven't had any issues.

Getting your order from The Iconic when purchased from David Jones, that's one I've never heard of. Unless they are affiliated. Would be great to see if anyone has answers to this…

What did David Jones say when you contacted them? You contacted them right…?

The Iconic have made a name for themselves since 2011. They don't sell counterfeit clothes.

my David Lawrence top comes from The Iconic.

    You deserve it.

Firstly, iconic does not sell counterfeit so i don't know where you make this stuff up from.

Secondly, chances are someone returned the item you bought to David Jones and accidentally put their iconic pieces of paper you have into the returned item, and that was sent to you.

David Jones is not affiliated with The Iconic and does not ship items from Iconic

  • Hmm, original buyer bought from iconic, returned to David Jones?

The Running Bare pants from The Iconic were definitely DEFINITELY not the same pants. T

Are you sure you bought the same pants as the DJ one? Some stores have exclusive models/line.

    Okay, then return them.

So is your shirt or whatever real or counterfeit? If it's real, you have no case. There is no law against David Jones buying it from The Iconic and shipping it to you.

Big claim, I hope you can back that up if you get taken to court for slander…

David Lawrence items bought from David Jones come direct from David Lawrence, not the DJs warehouse. It’s called dropshipping and is something they do with a number of concession brands they sell on DJs Online, like Sheridan, purebaby, WWRD and Georg Jensen.

Someone at the David Lawrence warehouse stuffed up and put The Iconic papers in a DJs order.

Source: ex-DJs employee, constantly shop on the (still shit; how did they make something worse than before) DJs website and have been using their online store for six years with hundreds of orders made, and have had to deal with the Online team as part of my old role

Edit: I echo everyone else in that The Iconic doesn’t sell counterfeit anything

I think your main problem is that you don't understand what the phrase "exactly the same" means.
