We have one and like it, but there is quite a bit of construction required.
You will also need the recommended mattresses to avail of the double-bed feature.

Seconding the construction, I remember having a few arguments when assembling it. Otherwise it looks great, and the drawers have ample room for stuff.

    • +1 about the construction. Got one 4 years ago and love it. Still remember I spent hours to put this together. It has close to 300 screws and parts to assemble. Good luck if you don't have power tools.

    • Are you guys using this as your main bed, or a spare bed?

you find it comfortable to sleep on, and it's held up to regular use?

      • Spare bed

a bit restrictive on recreational activities…

Blardy Millennials, back in the 80s we did our recreational activities in the back of a kingswood no problem!

    • It converts to a double bed; how much room do you need?

  • +3

Would the one with shorter sides/back (BRIMNES) be better, because it can be pulled away from the wall to let guests get into and out of the bed on both sides?

With this one, it looks like if two people are sleeping on it, the person sleeping on the side at the back of the couch would have to climb over the other person to get in/out (might be ok if your guests are younger and more sprightly, but not ideal for older guests).

    • you really make your old parents sleep in this while enjoying your king size? reckon the floor would be easier on them..at least they could crawl to the loo quietly

      • -Don't have a king size bed
        -Not my parents
-Yes I would make guests use the spare bed, hence why I am trying to find a somewhat decently comfortable option (people have said these are more comfortable than your usually crappy sofa bed)

But thanks for your super helpful input. You may crawl off now.

your lack of a sense of humour is duly noted - of course Scandinavian oldies regularly run marathons in icy conditions and can vault out of these faster than an aussie at a shout of free beer

          • @petry: Not sure that it's my sense of humour that has shown to be lacking here, but you do you, mate! ;)

            • @caprimulgus: you told me to crawl off - did I whine?

              • @petry:

you told me to crawl off - did I whine?

                Woosh! :P

I never said that you were whining - I was poking fun at you that your joke was bad. (And you missed my joke - so that means you lack a sense of humour, right?) ;)

(ps. I told you to crawl off because your post came across as a troll rather than a joke. If you want a different response, then make it clearer that you are joking (eg. if you remove the seemingly judgmental words "while enjoying your king size", your original post reads VERY differently!). Or get better jokes!) :P

  • Questions for those that already own it:

Do any of you regularly use it as a sofa/lounge? Ie for sitting and watching TV or whatever?

If so, how does it perform with that task?

    Thanks.

    • Use it when my little one used to take afternoon naps so that she didn't have to climb upstairs to bedroom.

Now in a spare room on the ground floor.

Used it recently as I had an operation on my leg and didn't want to go up/down stairs.

Probably won't be too comfortable using it as a sofa/lounge as the panels are made out of wood and hence not good for leaning on.

      • Thanks

  • I've been wanting this for ages, thank you!

  • I've had one of these for going on ten years now, lol! It's hell to put together or move unless two people are doing it. But the drawers are big and great. Definitely got my value for money. Some of the advertising says you can use two singles stacked on top of each other when the double isn't in use, but that really doesn't work IRL.

    • What do you mean by it not working? It’s too high / uncomfortable?
