How to get NBN installed into house?

Hope someone can help. My in laws live in Melton, Vic. They just moved about a year ago into the house and have no NBN yet. They do live in an NBN area.
I have tried all the providers and i always get a not available result so i guess i need to get the NBN box installed first?

Has anyone done this in the area? Whom should i contact and how much would this roughly cost? How long does it take?

Any input is greatly appreciated

  • If NBN haven't come out and put the box on the outside of the house, wouldn't bother trying to get it until that happens unfortunately.

what does https://www.nbnco.com.au/ says when you punch in the address ?

    • The house is in the purple nbn area, both next door neighbours have nbn

Choose an ISP. Call them. Stop posting silly questions on Ozbargain when you could easily make a phone call.

Go to the NBN co page, put the address in and see if NBN is actually available at the address. Just because you're in an NBN area, doesn't mean it's available at every single address in the suburb.. or pm me the address and I'll look it up for you (I work for Telstra)

Put in some of their neighbours addresses just to be sure.

      • Next door neighbour has got nbn.

        • He was making fun of you

  • Op, do you've Foxtel?

    • No

      • How about an Optus aerial drop? Where is the landline coming in (underground or aerial)?

  • Good luck even if you've got a NBN box - I've been waiting since early Jan for the technicians to come over to finish the installation. They either don't turn up or postpone.

  • Okay. Put the address into NBNco.com.au. Post here EXACTLY what it says. Including what form of NBN is being proposed. Then post the neighbour's results.
Almost certainly the house will be noted as requires additional work, along with almost 1 million other houses. There is no clear answer for this problem.

  • If they get along with their neighbours they could share their wifi password and split the costs for decent routers.

  • we should be able to get NBN by jan-jun 2020. :-) just be patient, it will happen.
actually kinda happy as some friends actually had worse speed than on adsl2+

just an update to Op's issue. His address is NOT listed in the NBNCo database, so he'll never get NBN until whatever RSP he wants to go with, lodges a ticket with NBNCo to update the address.. on the plus side, when it gets sorted, looks like he'll be getting FTTP

    • I have the same problem with the OP. how do I get the service provider to lodge a ticket with NBN to update my address ? I live in an NBN ready area, all my neighbours have NBN and because this is a new subdivided property, my address is not registered with NBN. Ive contacted Optus and they are hopeless. nobody can tell me what is the process to register my new address, which is by the way, in an NBN ready area. the problem is I cant get any other connection other than NBN, no more ADSL rollout in the area.
