Would OW Pricematch Dick Smith's $219 AirPods?

https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/apple-airpods/

Is there any reason why OW wouldn't? It does say ships 25 March, does that matter?

Edit: they wont :(

I rang and they said they 'don't price beat international imports?'

Probably lucked out since an updated version are rumoured to be announced March 25th.

They're $229 direct from Apple if you really want them now.

They'd be a bit mad to price match genuine Australian stock with grey imported stock - but interested to hear the outcome nonetheless.

  • Our Price Beat Guarantee includes products you find online - as long as the item is identical and in stock.

I think that it's excluded as it's not considered identical since it's a grey import.

Edit: Look at the 3rd item listed at the bottom of that page lol

Imported Apple products technically are not the same as they will have non-Australian part numbers. If the product is new then Apple will of course offer a 12 month international warranty, however you won't receive the benefits of the 24 months Australian consumer law protections which is pretty significant.

        Got a link for that?

        • Google 'Apple International Warranty'. You can buy an Apple product and travel the world and have it repaired anywhere regardless of where it was bought.

However, in Australia, if you buy genuine Australian stock then you effectively have a 2 year warranty guaranteed by ACL. So you have to balance up whether losing a year of warranty is worth the savings.

          • @apiecost: I found this

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV AND HOMEPOD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

@ozhunter: Yeah, but without saying who I work for, what I said was accurate :)

                @apiecost: Uh ok, lol.

I doubt a random comment on the internet would help my case over Apple's own terms and conditions listed on their website.

@ozhunter: Sure. Sounds like you're the type of guy that likes to argue. I'm just saying that anyone visiting Australia with a foreign Apple device, or somebody that has imported one can have them repaired with zero issues at any Apple Authorised Repairer. However they will be declined the additional benefits of the Australian consumer law protections after the 12 months have lapsed.

I really don't care what your take is on it.

                  • @apiecost: I care that you don't. lol

                    Me or you? lol

Yea lol, but that's not what Apple is saying. See the problem?

                  • @apiecost: I’m not sure about parts, but if they have to swap a device out they will need to order one in specifically for the location you have purchased. (eg if you have an American iPhone and want to replace it in Australia)

But it is definitely 12 months international warranty

                    • @k-rokfm: That could be the case, as that quote I got from their website does not appear if click on the macbook warranty section.

The fact that they specifically exclude those devices would likely mean they do offer it on their other products.

                    • @k-rokfm: That didn't happen for me. When they were doing the cheap battery replacement last year, they couldn't get the battery out of my Japanese iPhone SE and replaced it with a refurb Australian one.
