  • not sure who would buy those at $120.

  • No need to say more about the famous Basket Press

Hmmm more would be better. how do you get this?
If it's visiting the vineyard, maybe add the address/details?

I've never heard of this wine, so maybe a link to the tasting notes?

    • you have to be at their cellar door to purchase this, that's for anyone, but long time members usually get first dip alot earlier.

maybe the Op could spend some time doing the post. it's fairly lacking in even basic info

        • +1

he/she did say cellar door only, but at that price there are plenty more wines to choose from, i think the main purpose of this post is if you are in SA, buy this and sell it to make a profit, that's how i understand it.

@afrowan: so where is the cellar door? where is the proof of price?
lacking in basic details. it's a pretty lazy post.

            • @[Deactivated]: you have 2 options,

              1. click on that pricelist and there an address at the bottom.

              2. google is always your friend.

and i agree it is a lazy post, but for people that has been around wine , rockford is not a name you would miss, from langtons, wine tasting , magazines.

@afrowan: Yes indeed, I assume all SA local would know where to go, as this is only a regional bargain…
for me personally, no matter if I drink this vintage or not, I will buy them anyway, always nice to trade or share with you wine friends..

                • @ghoul666: at that price i wouldn't call it a bargain anymore, i use to purchase these at around $70 at retail shops, the recent vintages just not what i use to like, but sharing a special wine with friends is always a treat.

                  • @afrowan: True but a great wine for gifting as it has all the smokes and mirrors to impress whoever you are gifting it to

            • @[Deactivated]: Id say the cellar is at the front of the building

That's an amazing price for this wine.

  • outstanding price for a great wine.

  • I am in Adelaide and follow the theory that anything further than 20 minutes away from me is too far away. The cellar door (and me) misses out dammit!

    • You must love the hills! A fan of sav blanc i presume?

      • +1

Wife loves them. I'm partial to many McLaren Vale reds. But we are quite blessed in SA for wine.

  • Even at $120 a bottle, it’s still cheaper for an out of state person to pay that than flying in to grab their bottles unless you’re doing this as an annual pilgrimage to become a Stonewaller.

Most sold to members. Not much makes it out of SA. It's all ours HaHahAhaaaaHa!
I'm heading up there tomorrow with boot-load of disguises so I can get a couple dozen.

  • it is pretty much known as the "flip wine" nowadays, the good old days are far gone.
