Was looking for a deal on Sleeping Duck Mattresses as Choice Magazine recently gave them number one position!
I bought a queen for $200 off using the link from the deals website (I already had the mattress in my cart and it applied it). So this would make the mattress prices as follows:

Single: $599 (usually $799)
King Single: $699 (usually $899)
Double: $899 (usually $1,099)
Queen: $1,149 (usually $1,349)
King: $1,249 (usually $1,449)

Sleeping Duck are a bed-in-a-box mattress company. You order a mattress that is compressed and boxed up, and they ship it out to you with free delivery. You unpack it and cut open the plastic and the mattress expands to its original size. After a few hours, it's ready to be slept on.

They offer a 100 day free return policy if you don't like the mattress, so it's effectively a free trial.

  • We have a medium but found it firmer than a normal medium. They sent us two foam inserts free of charge during the trial period but we found the original better than them. It was good during the trial period but we have found we now wake up most nights throughout the night due to being in pain or just generally uncomfortable. I’m a side sleeper and find I don’t really sink into the bed much and the high pillow I used to use that was perfect for side sleeping now feels like it’s a low profile.
We’ve had it for about 18 months and have noticed my partner and I tilt into eachother slightly if we are laying close and we are pretty light (50-80kg) can’t imagine what it would be like for a heavier couple.

We bought a mattress topper that’s made it a lot better but it’s still worse than a normal bed imo. The only thing going for it is barely any partner disturbance - don’t feel my partner getting out of bed most of the time.

I own a King Sleeping Duck. Went with the medium firmness and have been really impressed. It's important to flip the inserts and let them air out for 12hrs once every 3 months or when you feel the bed is starting to 'sink'.

I've personally noticed the edges are firm so I sleep in further than I might a normal bed, kindof makes it feel like the bed sinks in slightly. Overall, owned the bed for almost two years and would recommend. The trial period also gives you that piece of mind (not that I sent mine back).

I'm unsure if they're taking referral codes still or not but if so, hit me with a PM and I can see if I can still send my referral code to give someone $50 off.

    • Hey mate,

Can you PM me the referral the random generator isn't working.

    • Hey mate, would you mind sending me a referral as well?

  • Code doesn't work, got a message "Error: Your referral code is invalid"

  • Had a Queen medium firmness for about 18 months. Best mattress I've ever owned by a very long way as far as comfort goes BUT man does it get hot, even down here in Tassie.

I've invested in a Bedjet (https://bedjet.com/) that helps cool things down a bit but at least once a week I still end up going to the spare room with a crappy 20+ year old spring mattress that always gives me a sore back but at least it's cool enough that I actually get some sleep.

Customer service is beyond awesome though. For the first few months they kept in touch, asking how everything was going and even sent me a free "cooling" topper when I mentioned how hot it gets. Sadly it doesn't work, but at least it was free.

    Price jacking.

Get a proper mattress if you care for a good sleep.

    • Can you explain this thought process? I love my mattress. While the prices aren't cheap, they're good quality. From what I've tried in bed stores and purchased in the past, these are great value for money.

    • Which mattress is proper?

  • Awesome mattress! We moved countries and were previously on a memory foam Sealy Posturepedic that ended up sinking after 18months of use. Had the SleepingDuck for 6months now and love it. We went from firm to medium during the trial period and only swapped out half since I prefer it more firm to my partner.

If you’re in the market for a new mattress this is an awesome deal that I wouldn’t pass up. I just bought a single and another king for our guest at this price!

Great mattress, but since buying a Zzz atelier mattress from eBay, I prefer it to the sleeping duck and it's nearly a grand cheaper.

    • I was about to come in and say the same thing.. way pay $1000 more for a SleepingDuck when you can get the ZZZAtelier for $3XX? I've got one and it's amazing.

What can this possibly do better to justify the price?

      • +1

You had the sleeping duck before getting the ZZZAtelier? Also I couldn't find a pocket spring mattress with foam topper for $300? Please show me where this is.

https://www.zzzatelier.com.au/products/chiropedic-black-labe… this is the closest I could find to the Sleeping Duck and only save a few hundred bucks.

This is the one I bought for the spare bedroom, it goes on sale tomorrow so should be $215 for a Queen.

And yes, I bought it after the sleeping duck and prefer it too.

          • @gooddealmate: $839 on their site or $200 on their eBay. Wtf.

          • @gooddealmate: What was the reason you returned the sleeping duck? And why do you think zzzatelier is better? Do you prefer firm or medium? Are you in a hot climate? Heavy or light?

            • @onlinepred: I didn't return the Sleeping Duck, I still have it and sleep on it most nights, the Zzz atelier is in the spare bedroom which I sometimes use. I prefer a firmer mattress, which is probably why the Zzz feels comfier. I'm in QLD and only have ceiling fans and a medium to light sleeper, they are both warm mattresses but we're used to them now. There's not a huge difference between the two which is why,for the price, I wouldn't hesitate getting the cheaper one.

Have a read through some of the comments from one of their previous deals here for some more assurance if you're still unsure.

It's quite hard to believe that it's possible to get a mattress this cheap and get a good night's sleep, but they've done it alright!

              • @gooddealmate: I don't want a firm mattress though. Send most reviews mention it was too firm and no grave period so waste of money right?

                • @onlinepred: Yeah it's not at all soft, so probably wouldn't be the right choice for you.

      • +1

mattress firmness. if you want firm mattresses, Atelier's probably unbeatable. but if you need something softer, SD's probably the cheapest one with decent quality.

  • Are there any referral codes that are working at the moment?

  • Ditto - any referral codes or anyone aware if there is a pending discount? We tried an EVA (KING SIZE) and find it uncomfortable.

    • I had terrible back pain for two weeks on the Sleeping Duck. A lot better now. I was ready to return it a week ago (1.5 weeks in), but they wouldn't let me as they say it takes up to 30 days fir the mattress to adjust. Instead I think I'll just get a comfort adjustment.

  • anyone got a working referral code?
