Bunnings Midland WA have these pools on clearance sale for $25 from $48.90.

Product Description:

This pool set is easy to set up, simply choose a flat surface outdoors and inflate the top ring with air as you fill the pool with water. The liner will be supported by the top ring - simple and easy. The set also includes filter pump and heavy duty repair patch

Easy Set Up
Liner issupported by an inflatable top ring
Water Capacity(90%) - 2,300Liters
Includes one pool, AU filter pump, and cartridge

The cardboard box has a plastic wrap around it, so would be perfect to buy now and store for next summer. (Though, 38c today.. tempted to set it up and buy another for next year!!)

They have dozens (trolley front of store and pallet middle of store, and likely in the pool section too).

It's probably worth $25 just for the pump, and use it with the bigger rectangle pool below.

They also had a couple (likely more) of https://www.bunnings.com.au/h2ogo-rectangular-pro-frame-pool… for $45.

See Full receipt as request by Stumo.

    Pool safety fence required
    https://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/sites/default/files/atoms/fil…

    "Portable swimming pools
The requirement to provide a compliant safety
barrier for private swimming and spa pools
extends to portable swimming pools that contain
water more than 300 mm deep.
    "

    • +4

Put a fish in it and call it a pond. No fence required.

    • A few were available in discount rack at Moorabbin store on weekend. Tempting. But safety first.

    • +2

The ocean is deeper than 300 mm, not fenced, and contains sharks.

Also in this report, page 17 top right "Barriers / Fence vs No Fence" is indicating the same mortality rate.

Kings Park (Perth) playground with lake unfenced

      • Actually, you are reading that report incorrectly.

        The "correct" comparison is:

        • 28.5% - Properly fenced or secure access
        • 71.4% - No/non-compliant/faulty/unmaintained fence

Note that even this comparison is completely useless in determining which category is safest as the data is not normalised. To get an accurate assessment you need to account for the number of pools in each category.

If you do the approximate1 maths, it turns out that if less than 28.6% of all pools in NSW are properly fenced, then the rate of drownings per number of pools is actually higher for those pools and thus they are more dangerous.

As an aside, here’s another incorrect comparison which "proves" that fenced pools are more dangerous:

        • 73.4% - Properly/improperly fenced or secure access
        • 26.5% - No fence

        1. The approximate maths assumes that the ratio of pools and the relative rates of drowning in NSW remain constant over the 13 year period of the data.

      • Technically not everyone live around the ocean or river. Even you do, there wouldn't any direct access to ocean.
        And this happens.
Just saying it, what worst could happen, some kid drawn in your pool or neighbour report you to the council.

  • What if I have no kids and just want this to chill my fat ass in summer?

(Meant to be a reply to above) ☝️

    • It'll cost you $25.

      • +1

        Worth it.

        • electricity and water not included

    • +1

You still need a fence, incase next door kid jump off the fence and drown on your pool.

      • LOL someone negative me, I wasn't kidding, law doesn't say you need to have kids or not!

    • LOL like me. Just buy a new one each year for 25 dollars. Too hard to store for next summer and it gets dirty easy.

Bought the same one for $49 at bigw 2 months ago. It will take 4000L of water each time.

Filled up 4 times in total and my water bills gone up 15% this quarter

    • +1

My water bill is about 95% service charge and 5% usage. 😐

When I shower, I do the head, arm pits and groin. Water takes care of the rest.

      Use chlorine?

      • That would definitely save on water costs. Not sure if it would save money overall. (You would also need a test kit, acid/alkaline, etc.)

The main issue is how much it would accelerate the deterioration of the plastic liner. (Plus any possible effect on the filter pump.)

        • +1

Test kit is like $6-10 pool/pump should be made for chlorine. At least no detrimental effects on mine

      • Use correct dosage of this every 2 days.
Leave pump filter running 24x7 & replace filter every 2 weeks
Get a cover and a heater and a leaf scoop.

        • the pump filter doesnt last 24 hours without getting clogged.

    • I think Big W sells the 10-foot pool while this is the 8-foot pool looking at the dimensions

      • you are absolutely right. And I think 10ft is definitely too big on any occasion

  • receipt says 404

    • Fixed. Thanks.

Crikey, is the NBN that bad out west that you have to save pixels or something? I think it would need to show the store name as well at least.

        • NBN, what's that?? Only just got upgraded from ADSL1 RIM to ADSL2+ directly to the exchange..

NBN hopefully in May, then I might able to upload a full receipt.
