Nice to have the meter feature. This one from Bunnings is also good if you don't need that or only want 1 or 2: https://www.bunnings.com.au/brilliant-smart-wifi-plug-and-us…

    • been using the ones from bunnings and pretty happy with them

  • Anyone got one of these and can comment on the accuracy of the energy usage monitoring?

    • I have these exact smartplugs installed usb bias lighting, so my energy draw is very low (so i don't know how useful this will be for you).
I typically use these to turn lights on at night in the garage/kitchen, bias lighting for bedroom TV and stereo system when used.
Screen shots from within the App:

  • Does it show real time power usage too? (In the app)

    • Saw a screenshot in the manual that suggests it shows realtime amps, watts and voltage.

  • Also interested to know if these integrate with Home Assistant? (As in being able to read energy usage)
I'm assuming these are a rebadge of something.

(Bit of googling suggests they are Tuya though I can't track down any info regarding the energy monitoring)

These are a rebadged tuya / smarterhome device. Can be added to home assistant via tuya component, however it doesn't show poweruse from memory. Can turn them on and off, but as it runs through the tuya cloud it's a bit hit and miss. Also HA complains about not being able to communicate with the tuya service all the time.

I am hoping to open one up and have a look at it soon. I think they should be able to be flashed with tasmota. Can't find evidence that someone has done it already, but generally tuya stuff can be from my reading. I am only just starting with HA so pretty novice at this stuff though. What a bloody learning curve!

      • This might be of Help : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgO2oxJZlUY&t=378s
Saw it on the home assistant subreddit literally yesterday.
It's a 3 part series. Worth watching just to see what you could do if you were so inclined.

      • They run very well, the tuya app is a little inconsistent tho but these ones are set up thought the smarterhome app (Kogans version) which is alot more reliable compared to tuya, having used both in the past.
I believe these are Kogans own brand and probably the easier wifi power plugs I have set up.
The app links in though Google home/ assistant.
The app shows yearly, daily & monthly data for KWh used, however I don't think it is live.

        :)

        • afaik, /all/ rebadged tuya kit goes through the tuya cloud.

  • I picked up a 4 pack of these and so far theyve been quite good. I dont use the kogan smarter home app. I have found they connect to the Smart Life app perfectly fine, which im already using for a bunch of other devices. The app can integrate with google home assistant too, but only for control. Energy monitoring seems only to work through the smart life or kogan app. Each plug logs daily and monthly total consumption which you can view in graph format through the app. You can see near instantaneous power consumption but sometimes it takes a while to start reading, not sure why. It does seem fairly accurate and so far its been quite insightful in analysing household consumption. I would certainly buy these again, they are only a small premium over other cheap plugs that dont have energy monitoring.

  • This device is definitely a Tuya, I've modded one to use the Sonoff-Tasmota firmware using the Tuya-Convert. Everything is working, Relay, Button and Energy Meter (though you need to calibrate it).

In the process of getting the Sonoff-Tasmota template approved, should appear here once done; https://blakadder.github.io/templates/anzac.html
