Double Bed Frame Recommendations - $300 Budget

Hey guys, wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations for bed frames (particularly double bed frames). Looking to spend no more than $250-300, and I've gotten quite different reviews from the bed frames off ebay as people say they are flimsy and break, whereas some others have said quite positive things.

Been searching gumtree as well however most people don't deliver and I'm unable to pickup right now.

Cheers

  • I've had good experiences with Tommy Swiss on Ebay. Ordered the King size back in May 2018 to go with my ZZZ Atelier mattress and both have been performing well, no squeaking or problems.

This is the one I ordered:

    • I have this "Tommy Swiss" frame and would not recommend.
Quality is pretty bad - the leather on the headboard is sagging and the bed feet mounts broke off - I've had to custom fit Ikea bed legs to it.
The frame is metal but the material quality is so poor that some of the many bolts have stripped their threads over time meaning the sides no longer line up (so it wobbles) and the slats sagged pretty quickly.

I'd say it was good for 3 months.

Definitely Ikea at a minimum or at least something with solid or veneered timber. My personal rule is to check how it assembles/disassembles - does it lock together and then is secured with a couple of allen/hex bolts, or are there 100+ screws holding it together

  • You could get a quality second hand frame from gumtree for that price.

  • I had a Hemnes frame from IKEA that lasted 8 years and I toss and turn like mad all night and it was rock solid the whole way through. Right up until I rock bottomed my nephew on it (the wrestling move)

  • Aldi is selling one for 199 starting this saturday.
