hmmm why would I want 2 trancievers between sound source and m50x sound signature?

wire is the sure thing if I want to enjoy it

I currently have the Sennheiser HD6xx, HD58x, HD 4.40, Beyer DT770, AT M40X, Schiit Magni 3, iFi Nano Black. Sometimes I don’t want to be tied to an amp, and I commute 2 hours a day on the train. Bluetooth headphones have a purpose for me.

      • +1

ah yes the commute. well, that puts things into perspective

  • what is the M50x signature? I'm assuming flat as the non bluetooth one's are considering monitoring headphones?

    • bass heavy + vocal forward.
      Not very refined
But i am comparing to the likes of SRH1540, Sennheiser Momentum 2, but none of these are wireless…

so if you really want wireless , they are not bad .
But beware - it can connect to one device at a time and its not very intuitive to use BT, as if they just quickly put in a chip and did not put much thought into the app or the headphone buttons itself ,can get very frustrating.

I agree there, it's not likely they will be better than say Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2. those have very fine sound (surprisingly), connect to 2 devices, and double like charm as hands-free. also I like how I can have them wired with NC on, and they last for months on end.

        • Absolutely on target - Backbeat pro 2 are actually a better headphone overall

          • @Jabberwocky: totally. I am actually so happy with them that I sold everything else. as far as headphones go they got me covered at the office, on the plane, and on the public transport. at home I blast the music from bookshelf speakers

Why wouldn’t you consider M50X wired version with a Fiio BTA10 bluetooth adapter together? $195 + $69.95 from addicted to audio. Add $10 off promo to subscribe to their newsletter and it’s even cheaper. That is a better deal IMO.

      • Up to 40 hours battery life on M50XBT vs up to 8 hours with the Fiio BTA10
      • M50XBT includes 1.2m cable for wired use
      • M50XBT would have better resale value
      • M50XBT has touch controls

The BTA10 would be great for someone who already owns the M50X. But, using your example, for a $25 difference, I don’t know why you would buy the M50X plus a Bluetooth adapter over the M50XBT.

Seems a bit over priced… Bluetooth to AUX can't cost more than $20. The base model of these is around 180. Shouldn't theoretically be anymore than $200.

    • +1

Yes, they are priced higher in Australia. The AU price is higher compared to the US price. They are priced at $199 without any discount in the US

  • I have the wired version these are good cans

  • Just wondering if anyone tried both M50X BT and AR5BT. Are their sound signatures the same? I currently own AR5BT and wondering if these sound the same.
