Need a New Cheap Smartphone Similar to ZTE Blade A112 (Telstra 4GX) for a Low-Income Earner

Hello Everybody,

I need some help in finding a cheap smart phone (ideally under $50) similar to the ZTE Blade A112 (it has 1GB Ram) or better. Screen size can be smaller but should have Quad-processor and 1GB ram as otherwise apps are likely to stutter a lot.
I googled and looked at the usual suspects (Target/HN/JB/BigW/GoodGuys/Officeworks/Wooloworst/Australia Post) but really could not find too much.
The closest ones I could find were the Vodafone Smart E9 and the Telstra Essentials Plus.

I am grateful for any advice or links that I was unable to find.

Thank you.

  • ebay used.

you would get a better spec'd phone that would have a longer life e.g. OS upgrade/more recent.

    • But is it safe to get a used one - I am a bit cautious as I do not want to end buying a phone that does not work.

      • sure, ebay/paypal protect buyers pretty well. personally I`ve never had an issue with a 2nd hand phone off ebay.

        there is a
OUKITEL K6000 Plus - 64GB - Black Smartphone for $62.95 delivered on ebay. it`s a reasonable china droid phone with reasonable specs.

it has make an offer on it so try $40+12.95 delivered

        • Great. Thank you. Will look at it when I get home.

  • all those Xiaomi phones can be found for 2nd hand pretty cheaply. USUALLY 2nd hand phones are safe to buy, but you always hear horror stories (as the case with everything)

  • You can get the ZTE Blade A112 (Telstra 4GX) for $76.55 including shipping here with the current PLUSMORE 15% off code.

It's a bit over $50, but it's AU stock, has AU warranty, NEW, and express delivered. I'm assuming the recipient isn't going to be the most tech-literate, so having that warranty support (from an Aussie shop, possibly even from Telstra) in case of any issues (I feel) would be important.

  • +1

Use the hack and get a network-locked Telstra Essential Plus and a SIM card for free, delivered. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/426540

    • I will try that tomorrow. I do have such a phone here.

      • Telstra doesn't care if your old mobile is eligible. It doesn't even care if you have entered a Telstra mobile number. The deal is formally "targeted" but everyone who uses the hack have so far been accepted. I have personally tried all combinations of mobiles, providers and fake names. As long as the web page accepts the form and your address is real, Telstra have delivered. My last claim was on 20 February.

When your claim form is accepted, there is a notice that said Telstra will send you an SMS and will deliver within 10 business days. You will never get an SMS but you will receive an email with a Startrack tracking number when the new mobile is on its way via overnight delivery.

Processing time between form submission and receiving the delivery email: 1 hour to 6 weeks.

    • Thanks. Will have a look at that too.

      • Cheap to unlock , i think $3 code from ebay

  • If I ha seen this earlier I would of told you to look at the Telstra Essential Smart or ZTE A125. Best RF / country region RF so far from my use. Simple device but all you need if you are just after a handset for being able to make calls on the Telstra network. I live in the fringe zone south of Ballarat and it works in my house when every other device is a basic no signal.

    Cheers,

    D.
