Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5-inch 256GB WiFi Tablet - Black $798 @ Harvey Norman

230

Cracker of a deal. Usual price is near $1,179 (the grey version is this price on their website still). Don't forget shipster for free shipping. Might only be available today given the Good Guys ebay deal that is happening.

Might be cheaper if you can find stock at an Officeworks for a 5% price beat.

If you are looking for a cheaper tablet at a good price, this deal for the Tab A is on also: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/442883

GG eBay deal is $10 cheaper for a 64gb model. This is 256gb model. Everything else identical.

  • 64gb with 20 deal from here

    • Am I missing something $783 for 64GB or $798 for 256GB? If so, I can't imagine anyone choosing 64GB with such a small increase.

      • Blame Android tablet os for sales

        • Blame Android for sales? I'm not sure that makes sense.

    • Not if you price match at Officeworks.

      • I couldn't get to a officeworks that has stock today otherwise I would have tried. If they do price match this very cheap price you'll be a happy camper!

I got a price match on mine (though they were very reluctant to do it) and saved an extra $40, now to find a decent keyboard cover for it with my savings :)

    • That's 64gb.. this one's 256

      • yeah I updated both links

The 64gb with good guys deal works out $10 less than HN 256gb deal,I know what I would be getting

Good price for the S4! If you don't need the processing power of the S4 but want the AMOLED screen and an even lighter weight, the midrange Tab S5e might be worth waiting for.

    • I was going to comment in the deal that I think the S5e will probably retail about the same as this when it comes out so I think you are getting a better tablet for same price. Plus you get a S-Pen and S-Pen support on this tablet.

      • Don't think that Tab S5e wil retail same price as Flagship Tab S4 tbh. It's just midrange with SD 670 Mobile Platform.

        • What I meant by my comment is that it'll retail for about the price of this deal, which is over 20% to the flagship tablet. Who knows, they might even announce a standard S5 down the track.

          • @serpserpserp:

Who knows, they might even announce a standard S5 down the track.

Pretty sure they will.. at $1079 probably. :/

      • I'm predicting it'll probably be about $680-700 at launch based on the US$399 RRP. If you need the processing power and s-pen support, this is absolutely the better choice. You get much more storage and a Snapdragon 835.

But if you just want to watch videos and browse the web, the extra power and s-pen would be wasted. The S5e's 18% lighter weight, slimmer design, and ~$100 saving might be worth it. It'll be even cheaper if you can get it during an eBay 10% or 20% sale. There are cheaper tablets that can do the job (e.g. MediaPad M5, Mi Pad 4), but they're not as light as the S5e, and AMOLED screens are just beautiful.

        • Keep in mind that USD$399 will be the 64gb version. If the pricing tiering is like the S4. The 256gb version will be USD$120? more. Or simply tack on AUD$200 to your predicted price.

          • @serpserpserp: Yup. I wouldn't pay such a high premium for the larger-storage models though - that's what the SD card slot is for. :)

            • @eug: Haha yeah I was of the same opinion and was about to buy the GG eBay deal one until my eBay vouchers got rejected. thought I'd check HN, JB, Amazon to see if they had anything going and then this appears for the and dollar value essentially so couldn't pass it up. Definitely won't have storage issues with this and a SD card.

          • @serpserpserp: There's no 256GB s5e. It's 64GB and 128GB.

Also, no Pen support. S4 has the pen included. Pen is normally $59.

            I think that's worth $100.

  • not sure how I feel about this when you can get a Surface GO 128GB/8GB device for cheaper. I guess if you're set on android it makes sense, otherwise the GO is a full windows OS and supports win-store and legacy applications.

    Hmmmmm!

    • You are only getting this if you are into the Android ecosystem. I bought it primarily for an Android gaming device. But will also use it for all the other stuff you use a tablet for!

Not a fan of the Surface Go from what I've seen.

      • if you got the android tablet for gaming it's probably not the best choice given that android games (mobile games) are full of freemium and pay to win games.
The surface GO would give you full access to the steam store - the GO may not be good for intensive gaming.. but steam has 1,000's of indie or low-gpu requirement games that are not freemium or pay to win models.

        • It isn't about games I don't have, it is about the ones I already own but are dodgy as on my current tablet.

Have a PC too with steam.

        • Windows needs better specs to be snappy.

The same CPU would be buttery smooth in Android.

          • @lostn: It's not so much the CPU but more the storage speed for smoothness in windows. even a dual core cpu paired with a nvme ssd would feel super fast vs a i7 paired with a emmc or hdd. Storage speed > cpu speed for OS smoothness.

            • @irev1: That's not what I'm talking about at all.

I have dual boot Win10/Android tablets. So same hardware. But it runs much smoother in Android, even with emmc.

This tablet's emmc is fast though.

  • I have one of these on hold at Officeworks Windsor (QLD) with price beat that I no longer want. PM me if you want to pick it up.
