Kids Single Mattresses and Beds

It's time to move up to my daughter's first big girl bed and so time to decide what single or king single mattress to buy

And what do you know, the options range from $30-$1000, with all the sales and peer pressure to get something a little bit fancy

Any tips or lessons learned from other ozbargainers? What single mattress would you buy your toddlers,?

  • Don't go expensive as it has no resale value. King single is a good option as it can be used in your spare room when/If kid moves out.

  • +1

We got our toddle a cheap standard bonnell spring mattress. Glad we did cause half the time it's being used as a trampoline anyways. However you can get a pocket spring one for under $100 anyways, though probably not so good for jumping.

We just got the lowest bedframe we can find. You can argue for buying special themed beds (ie. princess and cars) if that means the toddler will go to bed. For us it didn't make any difference as she decided to sleep on the floor anyways.

  • grab one off eBay

  • Definitely go with the King Single. It'll last them until they move out, you can comfortably sleep two adults on one.

  • What kind of budget do people think is reasonable?

  • Check Aldi, they sells mattress started yesterday. Its very comfy too.

  • So I'm hearing that $130-$180 or so for a kids mattress, preferably inner spring with foam padding, could last for 10+ years, and if getting King Single, might have a bit more utility e.g. as the child gets older.

I suppose that is where I'll set my search.

I still don't have a bed either, that's my next challenge.
