Am I missing something that makes a hair dryer worth $200?

You are missing this one :)

Jeez, I had no idea people were so serious about a thing that blows air. I guess the brand name air is just better than poor person air

  • Just out of curiosity, why does the eBay listing say 2250w when the Parlux website says 2100w for this model? Just a typo?

What has ozbargain become, a place for filthy rich people to buy the most expensive item in each category

    • +4

A common misconception about ozbargain is that everyone on here is poor and only buys the cheapest products. The point of ozbargain is to find products/services at prices much cheaper than elsewhere, whether it be a premium product or not.

      • I don’t mind people posting expensive but reasonable products such as Dyson’s, Samsung’s, iphones since everyone uses them but who would need a 200 hair dryer

        • +1

Are you a female with extra extra thick frizzy hair? Doesn’t sound like it!

I purchased a parlux 3800 a few years ago and its the best hair dryer i’ve ever had! Took minutes off the time it takes to dry my hair. It is well worth the extra $$.

        • Well the equivalent quality Dyson hairdryer which has been posted on here before is more than twice the price. This is very powerful hairdryer and the Parlux brand is well recommended by hairdressers.

    • … but is it a bargain?

    • +2

      Lol at this attitude…
So what do the people say who can't afford the stuff YOU can afford?

      • You're only allowed to post junk they can afford ok.

      • Is all relative pricing, e.g. I can buy a hairdryer for 40 that can do the same thing as this but at a bit longer rate, whose gonna worry about the 5 seconds that you are going to waste

        • +1

It's funny you say it relative but only think of this in your own situation. Hairdressers use these for a reason, they move more air, they dry quicker, they're lighter, they dry smoother, they last longer. You can have silky smooth hair like scrappy coco.

          • @F-22: I've had enough el cheapo hair dryers die on me. False economy. My Parlux will likely last as long as I do, and I can assure potential buyers that it dries my hair faster and better than previous dryers. Yes, it definitely feels better after drying; whatever they do it is more than just blowing hot air.
