If I renew my passport, will the new expiry date be based on the old expiry date, or some other date?
I've got a passport that has about 7 months of validity on it. I have no current travel plans. I'm wondering if I should renew it now or wait to renew it to get the most 'value' from the remaining 7 months. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I took our family members photo against a white wall, duplicate the photo to fit a 6x4', save it then print at Harvey Norman or officeworks for 15c,then cut them up. I am a graphic designer but it's not rocket science. You just need to keep the face within the guidelines.

I did the following,
I had no planes of travelling so I let my passport expire, but I didn't want to go through the whole process of getting it again from scratch, so you can renew your passport after it expires as long as you do it with in 2 years of its expired date.
I renewed mine this year for a trip I plan to do. Took 2 weeks to get it, and had a few months before my 2 years was up.
Why was this negged?
Mine expired roughly 3 yrs ago. I only renewed it at 2 years, 11 months past expiry coz I had no intention to travel. Your passport becomes completely useless.after 3 years as you can still use an expired one as identification for 3 years after the expiry date.
I have no plans to travel unless I win a competition and cannot off sell it.
Thinking now whether I should renew my passport as it expires in early December.
I filled in the form and everything in case I need to but yeah I don't plan to go on any trips unless a free one comes my way (giveaway/overnight marriage honeymoon lol)
You don't need to get your photo certified.
Australia Post charged you $18.95 just for the photo.
