Coffee Grinder Broken after 3 Months

Hi good people, a quick question i purchased a breville coffee grinder in December, yesterday morning has stop working, it smells a burning motor too.

Never claim a warranty before in my life, Where should i claim the warranty from, The retailer or breville?

Update:
I called Breville and they processed the claim over the phone - it was a pain free 5 minutes call.

Breville gave me a case number, advised me to go to the retailer and get the replacement from them
went to the retailer, gave them the case number, and they simply just gave me a new unit from the shelves.

we are so fortunate to have ACL protecting consumer, glad that both consumer and the business are aware of it.

    Best bet is to contact the retailer first.

    Retailer, give them a call first and make sure you have a copy of your receipt for when you physically return it.

    Check what your receipt says, and also check their policies on their website. Some will explicitly say it. You should be able to have them replace it, as it's a major flaw. Different places have additional levels that they will explicitly do, even though they pretend some things are optional when they are in fact covered by law.     If they make it too much of a hassle, you can also contact Breville directly. Some companies will ask you to take it back to the retailer and get it exchanged, but they'll handle the back-end, so it's just making it easier for you.     The retailer - that is who your commercial contract is with.

    The only time I would vary this view is if I have an issue with an Apple product. I head to the Apple run stores every time, they don’t muck you around.
