Kogan Returns. Head to Head Office?

I'm nowhere near the office but I've had such a complete failure with returning a faulty purchase that I think I need to make the effort to pop in and make myself known. I'm mighty pissed and this smacks of a rip off culture and that they are either incompetent or deliberately unwilling to incur the expense of dealing with refunds/replacements. Can anyone nearby pop in and get me the unlisted reception number? They are possible to call.

Righto - and you need the unlisted phone number in order to achieve this?

  • Under the ACL

You are entitled to return a product if you believe that there is a problem. You are generally responsible for returning the product if it can be posted or easily returned. You are entitled to recover reasonable postage or transportation costs from the business if the product is confirmed to have a problem, so keep your receipts.

  • (1) Write a letter of complaint and say that if they have not responded to your satisfaction within 7 days you will be returning the goods. Send the letter by registered mail.
    (2) If no response after 7 days photograph everything, box it all up carefully and send back by registered mail with signature on delivery. Give them 7 days to confirm receipt.
After 7 days, if still no response refer the matter to Consumer Affairs.

I'm not sure how this helps OP. We don't even know if OP has a right to return the product at all, because we have no idea how it's faulty.

I walked by and don't see a reception at all. Just a note on the window saying customer service team is online only.

    • The reality of it is that while that is "head office" there will be no one there to handle any returns, etc.

OP can go in there and kick up an ungodly stink if that makes them feel better, but they will likely be leaving without their return being accepted.

Just put your item in a taxi and get them to drop it off

  • What went wrong in the first place? Don’t bother going direct to the head office - that sounds like an ugly confrontation that can only escalate this from a returns issue to a triple zero call.
