The last big Wotif sale (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/41548) was abysmal so I'm a little skeptical about this one.

    • Hopefully this time will be better.

Agreed . I wasted hours trying to find a bargain and ended up ringing the hotels I wanted direct . I've been amazed at how pliable on prices hotels are when you do your research and tell them what rates you can get online .

      As George Bush said..

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again

      Shame on you Wotif

      • Bush's version of the "fool me once…" saying seems so deep and cryptic it must be a sign of his transcendental intelligence. I'm too dumb to make much sense of it.

Every time I see a hotel deal posted, I can't help but compare it to the genuinely mad Toga (Medina, Vibe, etc.) sale of a year ago, where if you were lucky enough to push your booking through their overloaded server, you could score rooms at 5-star properties for $50/night, including weekends in Sydney CBD.

    Waste of time

    • Agreed, last time they ran one of these it was total garbage & tantamount to false advertising.

Spot on. Very limited choice of hotels and days, and not anymore savings than you would normally receive

6.43 now. No bargains on their website.

7am now. Still no updates on their website.

My bad. Deal is on, but indiscernable from pre-deal prices (as is usual with Wotif)

Did you know you can get better prices in person at the Hotels in question? Wotif is a rip-off.

It's up online, but it's garbage. Sorry guys!

    Its not actually that bad

I was looking at booking into a place for a weekend away anyway

and this saved me at least $100

    so cheers

  • Same here… just made a booking for 3 nights in Hobart. Saved about $40 per night (compared to the place's own website) and free breakfast thrown in for 2, every day. Not bad.

What puts me off Wotif is their booking fee. And that their prices are usually higher than Expedia/Hotels.com anyway, who doesn't charge any booking fees.
Just had a quick browse through a few of the destinations I've been looking at and their sale price is all but a few dollars lower than Expedia. Add in their booking fees, and factoring in potential moneybackco on Expedia, it doesn't really come out as much of a deal for me.
    Oh well.

  • Good if you have a location specific in mind, and it's on sale. I jumped on a few of the hotel sites to compare and many included breakfasts at a cheaper rate than the wotif sale. That said, we booked the Noosa Sebel in early Nov and (according to the Mirvac site) saved around $230. Thanks aussiedogga :)
