High Pressure Washer - Ryobi, Workzone or Jet-USA?

Good morning fellow OZBs,
In the market for a new pressure washer and I noticed Aldi has Workzone pressure washer going on sale on the 23rd Saturday. Just wondering if anyone here has one or would recommend Aldi one over Ryobi or Jet-USA?

Aldi Workzone 2400W/2600PSI $99 - ALDI
Ryobi 1800W/2000PSI - $89 currently on special at Bunnings - Bunnings
Jet-USA 3200PSI $103.20 with 20% sale currently on Ebay - Ebay

Thanks guys.
Cheers.

I don't really have any experience with any of the units but I did want to warn you about the Jet-USA one. It isn't really 3200PSI the same way the others are 2000 or 2600PSI and Edison does have a well earned reputation for selling cheap junk on ebay with vague misleading specs. It is actually a 1800PSI washer and in the words of the actual ebay ad "be wary of overstated pressure pressure claims from inferior models"

It is also worth noting that a good rule of thumb is roughly 1W to 1PSI and considering the max wattage is 2400 for a socket you shouldn't see much beyond 2600W. In this case it is a 2350W which does 1800PSI so either they are lying about the Wattage to make it look more impressive or it's a pretty inefficient pressure washer.

As said though I have no experience with the products in question, I just want you to be able to compare apples to apples instead of apples and green painted oranges.

    • Thank you very much for pointing this out though. I had no idea :).

  • I was once a noob in the field of power washer buying, and I've bought my fair share of useless machines (3) before they all inadvertently gave up the ghost. Finally, I bought a Gerni and can vouch that it is heaps better. The premium you pay over the no name brands is definitely palpable. I'm sure the metal motor in the Gerni also helps.

TLDR: Get Gerni or Karcher, everything else will die sooner than later.

    • Thank you, not sure if I want to spend that much. Equivalent Gerni model to Aldi one seems to be more than $400? I mostly will be using to wash the car and some odd cleaning here and there.

I've had the Aldi one for about three years now. Hasn't missed a beat yet, but I only use it about three or four times a year. Washing the car is painfully slow, did it once.

    • Great to hear. I'm thinking of purchasing Aldi one to give it a go this time :)

    • Did you get the smaller ALDI 1400W one maybe? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414218

I have this 2400W ALDI one and I find it's more than powerful and fast enough for car washing

      • Just checked and mine says it's 2200 watt? Maybe I'm just impatient :)

        • probably just have higher car cleaning standards than me - wouldnt be hard!

  • If you are planning on doing a reasonable size area, these machines will take a LONG time as they are best suited to really small jobs. I have known people to buy this sized machine to then have it just sit there as it was too painfully slow to use. Purely based on that I'd probably think the ALDI one due to the warranty would be my pick.

    • Thanks, this is what I'm thinking as well. I would most likely to use it to wash the car and few smaller areas. Won't be using it for a bigger job per say. Thank you for your input on this :)

    • I just commented below saying I was pretty happy with the ALDI one but you've reminded me that after spending 2 hours doing the deck yeah my hand was sore and cramping

I have the ALDI one and for washing the car, washing the side of the house, under the eaves, high hard to get at windows it'a more than up to the job.

I cleaned about 3m x 8m of old, never cleaned merbau decking with it, took about 2 hours to do the area twice and did a great job. I sort of got the sense that a bigger better machine would have been quicker but for a once a year job I was very happy.

If you have an ALDI nearby their 5 warranty and return policy make it pretty easy

  • I bought an Ozito 1300W 1450PSI pressure washer from bunnings for $49. used it clean the concrete area at my old house. area was about 3/4 of a tennis court. it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. It was a slow process…..a very slow process. the water spray (to be effective) was only about 20mm wide of surface contact. it took a long time time. washing the house (in addition to using a broom) wasn't so bad. it would be fine for washing the car or simple "cleaning" or "pressure" washing of small areas.

OP - what you want ing tuse the pressure washer to clean?

    • Mostly to wash car and some front areas of the house. Won't be using to clean anything massive. I'm thinking of giving this Aldi one a go :)

  • That is not the real Jet brand. There is a US brand called Jet and they make good quality tools. Mostly woodworking and metal working. But they are white and not sold through ebay.

  • I have that Ryobi one. It's fine for little jobs around the garden. I'd just hire out my driveway to the pros, though. Small coverage, not terribly powerful. Happy with the quality and price for what it is.

  • Ended up getting Aldi one. I have to say the quality is not bad. Well equipped for the price and does a decent job. Happy with it so far as I have managed to do clean up concrete at the back but took a while to go through the whole area.
