Thanks - I've updated with Palsonic's RRP on their website http://www.palsonic.com.au/product_sales/lcd-tv/tftv4932led.…

It's illegal to compare to a RRP, especially when you don't even sell it at that price…

        • We're only using the RRP to give an indication of the value of the free TV and the manufacturers RRP seems to be the best way to do that … or would you do it a different way? You can definitely BUY the TV cheaper (including from us) but … is that a good way of showing value?

I'm genuinely interested in how this community would like to see these deals. Should we just publish the topline deal and then let people research the value themselves? We definitely don't want to mislead people.

We're only using the RRP to give an indication of the value of the free

Which is illegal to do under the Trade Practices Act…

The value is $299, since that is your normal selling price…

If you sell for $299 then the value is $299. Neg for lying, neg for false prices to mislead. Dodgey retailer purchase at own risk.

Sorry for confusion, I've updated the value of the free TV to $299.

      ok… i've removed my -ve… :)

  • $825 here, sans tiny-telly for anybody interested!

Would've been an ok, not outstanding, but decent deal though if not for the inflated price on the value added TV. Gotta agree with the other guys though, neg for the deception!!! I hope you guys learn from this mistake. ;)

FWIW, these look remarkably similar to my Saeco; so they're probably a good machine - check reviews first though!

[edit] Just read the above comment from rep, neg withheld! ;)

As you can see emme, the Ozbargain community would appreciate the actual value of the TV, rather than an inflated price that the TV has never been sold for.
It was only pointed out here yesterday that the Trade Practices Act explicitly states that if you sell an item at an everyday price lower than the RRP, you should state the value of the item at that everyday price rather than the RRP.

Google Shopping lists the same machine at Bigpond Shopping for $825. That's getting into the territory of a Bargain!

Thanks scubacoles. It was my mistake, not PowerBuys.

We look forward to future deals from you that will get a better response.

While I appreciate the rep responding well to valid criticism, it doesn't make the deal a bargain.

As has been pointed out, other online retailers have it for significantly less. So the TV isn't so much free as it is $24 off. A total of $24 off of a $1,099 price that includes a TV that virtually no-one would buy separately (which is probably why it's "free")…

    That's not a bargain.

      Agreed..
I'm just too gutless to hit the negative! :-)

I'm just too gutless to hit the negative!

I'm running training courses to overcome this fear, if you are interested…

        RRP $599 for half day…

      • Seriously though, I wanted to give the Rep a chance before ripping into them!
The deal has no legs (compared to the Bigpond deal) even before the inflated RRP on the miniscule TV.

  • Plus for being polite :) not bad deal i guess.
