Game of Thrones Limited Edition Whiskys $85.99 - $109.99 Per Bottle @ Costco (Membership Required)

210

So the Game of Thrones whisky bundles are being released across the country and have just been released in Costco. Dan Murphy had the bundle (minus the House Tyrell – Clynelish Reserve) for $799 on pre-order recently but the Costco deal is better :

Cardhu Gold Reserve - House Targaryen Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $85.99
Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost - House Stark Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $85.99
Lagavulin 9 Year Old - House Lannister Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $109.99
Oban Bay Reserve - The Night's Watch Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $109.99
Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old - House Baratheon Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $109.99
The Singleton Of Glendullan Select - House Tully Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $85.99
Talisker Select Reserve - House Greyjoy Single Malt Whisky 700mL, - $85.99

Making the complete set $673 so represents $126 cheaper. Plus you can purchase any in any combination so don't have to get the full set if you dont want to.

Now Dan's "throws in" a bottle of white walker with a value of $59.99 (Costco) so even if you want to get the white walker its still around $66 cheaper than Dans.

Who the hell would pay so much for what is essentially just merchandise for a TV show?!

    • +14

Lots of people. These are legitimate whiskies from reputable distilleries. For example, the only two Dalwhinnie whiskies available in OZ are $89 and $96 from Dan's so this offering represents very reasonable value for a unique whisky.

Apparently there’s one such customer born every minute

      • Clearly you have no interest in this deal so on you go…

    • Most of these whiskies are single malt and reputable. I personally like a good bottle of Talisker, pity it is House Greyjoy. They usually go for around $80 - $120. They are definitely expensive if you are drinking them with coke.

S up and take my money!

  • How does price beating work at Dans? Would you need to show Costco membership card?

    • +1

Dan's doesn't have stock of these that I know of. However they will price beat if you show them the prices BUT the Costco needs to be within 10KM of the Dans you are in…You could just rock up to Costco, buy a membership, pick up the Whisky then ask for a refund on your membership…..They have a "cancel at any time" policy for a full refund…

      • You could, but it's a dick move. Ala the people that "buy" a TV and return it the week before the no questions refund policy runs out and pick up the latest model.

        • Not really the same. You are not returning the product, just cancelling your membership…

So much better than this deal!

    • The Dan one is better???

      • Oops. I meant this one so much better than dans one

        • +1

Ahh, I see what you mean now….Could be interpreted either way….

I think this one is better purely because you don't have to buy the full set. I for one only got 4 bottles of the ones I wanted…

          • @Savitar: Well Costco one is cheaper, and you dont have to buy the set. It's a much better deal unless you are trying to buy the entire set

Love it how it says "limited to one set per member"

That means you could buy 50 of each except one and say its not a full set

    • Exactly what I was thinking. I saw people with multiple of singles and Costco said NOTHING!

  • +3

Getting a bottle of House Frey would be something although I wouldnt be game to drink it.

  • Pass on the Greyjoy

    • +1

      I picked up one….But I like Talisker…

      • how is it?
i'm a talisker fan too. it's the only one in the collection i want to try.. but the fact it's Greyjoy puts me off. haha

      • Prefer lovejoy over greyjoy

  • This will almost definitely be the cheapest price in the market, so if you're chasing the set, get them while you can!

Or if you're a collector there is a boxed set coming, but it will cost significantly more

  • Does anyone know if costco has the white walker johnny walker in stock on its own?

    • Docklands certainly does. Looks like they got a new shipment as they had a whole pallet (or more) when I was there on Thursday.

      • Cool thanks, might have to check it out this week.

  • saw the johnnie walker white walker in costco act in stock..

  • I so want this set; I am a costco member but I am based in QLD where they doesn't sell alcohol in Coscto. Is there any other way to place an order, I am pretty sure that you can't pay for it over the phone and pick up later?

    • Not sure personally but I would talk with your local. I would imagine they don't have a licence to sell Alcohol so would doubt you can get it from them. A trip to NSW would be in order or look for another outlet setting (Dan's perhaps).

  • are these limited edition whiskys or limited edition packing.

  • Will the production be limited and would it be a good as an investment?

    • Good investment. I think most people will say no. However, like anything, it all depends on how long you hold it for. If you hold it for 50 years, and keep a full set then it will probably be worth something.

Now, having said that, there are places currently selling the bottles for $400 each!! Yes, you read that right, at the same time costco has them for $100….Will anyone actually pay that? Will they sell for more….time will tell….

  • Which Costco was this? Morrabin only had 3 varieties

    • Docklands…

  • no single malts in auburn…

    • Only two left in Docklands…
