$300ish from most retailers. Still a good deal.

    Great reviews for these speakers

The volume control is on the back of the speaker. Which genius came up with that idea?

There's no subwoofer, and I'm not seeing any wires connecting the two speakers together. My assumption is they are communicating via bluetooth. No thanks, if that's the case.

Why do you need prime for free shipping since it's over $49?

      You must get lost.

      Your assumption is wrong.

There's a chunky cable you that you connect between the two at the back. Multiple connections but no HDMI so newer TVs might give you problems with volume control. Remote is a bit weak and no mute button is annoying.
Good quality speakers for PC and music though.

    • Did you even look at the photos????

  • These vs R2000DB

    • The drivers on these are 3.75-inch vs drivers on R2000db are 5-inch. I’m guessing you will get more low-end on the R2000db. (Frequency response on S880db does not state at what +/-dB)
Both have optical inputs if that’s important to you.
R2000db also has more powerful amplification.

Depends the sound you are looking for, S880db are marketed for Hi-Res audio, im guessing bright colder sound, if you want more details rather than power/bass. R2000db is probably more balanced/conventional with warmer sound and has more punch and power.

    • s880 provides better clarity at higher end, r2000db is better at bass, but S880 is classified as high res sound. I just bought both, one for pc speaker, one for the living room and TV

  • It’s worth noting this seems like a 2.0 version of the Edifier S350db.
I noticed the smaller drivers and overall form factor as very similar, it has the same titanium dome tweeters (as S350db) which also make me think they are built identically to the L&R speakers of the S350db.
They will be very bright sounding (almost harsh higher frequencies IMO) due to titanium tweeter.
And slightly lacking in bass, due to the small driver size that has the take care of mids and lows together, and lack of subwoofer.
Edit: the one difference I noticed is there is a bass-reflex port and the rear, which may help in getting lower and stronger bass than expected from a 3.75-inch driver.

    • thanks for the info. you just saved my wallet

    • Yes, but S350 is much more expensive at the moment when compared to this sale

      • Just pointing out the similarities in their build. I think S880db and S350db have different sound signatures (Hi-Res vs Bass-head). S350db is $310 C&C / $335 Delivered, I wouldn’t say ‘much’ more expensive.

        • I live in WA, the cost the delivery is almost $60, cannot do cash and collect, with cash back for amazon is 235, so over of $130 of price difference

    • Hi just to correct myself, according to the sources I’ve read, it appears the drivers on the S350db L+R speakers are 3.5-inch in diameter.
While the S880db has 3.7-inch (94mm) drivers of the same type, and the new up-coming S360db (with new Planar-diaphragm tweeters) has 4-inch drivers of the same type in its L+R speakers.

  • Curious if this will go ok with a LP60 vinyl player?

    • +1

The S880db are marketed as entry-level Hi-Res speakers (40khz top end). As far as I know vinyl records have the standard 20hz-20khz frequency range (limited by cartridges).
If the S880db sound signature suits you, they could be for you. You’ll have to give them a try/listen.

The lack of low end could be a plus, as I have read that is where the resonant frequencies are with records.

      • Cheers bud
