It’s US only and that was made very clear at the event.
They have no plans to launch in any other countries at this stage (also made clear at the press conference after the event)

It may have been obvious if you watched the event. But for those who didn't, your post only mentions positives not the negative being unavailable here. So no, it was not obvious on your post. In fact, the contrary.

Now we can finally top it up with itunes gift cards!

Here comes all the butthurts. So do you really think topping it up with iTunes gift cards is a fact?

            Here comes all the butthurts.

What you do on your spare time does not concern me.

@Pricebeat: That's all I ask. [ P.S. No down votes from me. I like to watch the world burn, but I'm not lighting the match ;) ]

@rompastompa: Unfortunately you lit it with your tail, burnt by the butthurt neggers. But don’t worry it doesn’t reach me.

        mobile companies

Apple is a lot more than just a 'mobile company'. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't opened their own bank. It's inevitable.

Partnered with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard.

No interest obviously, as it is not available here.

  • I don't live in the US so cannot get this card

    • I expect to see a whole new thread about how ozbargainers got a US issued apple card

  • The US has quite a different banking system, so there's more scope for them to do that. Merchant fees are much lower here so there's not so much profit in it for them, nor the scope to offer such high rewards. They're probably taking most of the pie they could get here just with the banks offering Apple pay.

    • Actually don't think this is in search of direct profit (since no fees/charges etc) but it's rather about gaining more foothold and control. I reckon they'll inevitably start an Apple Bank or some modern take on it eventually.

      • The fees/charges are paid by the merchant. In the US this is particularly lucrative. In Australia, those fees/charges are much lower. The US credit card system is very much behind the rest of the world, hence Apple Pay was an enormous deal there while it took forever to take off at all here. It's only next month people will stop being forced to sign (paper) when purchasing if using a card.

This is absolutely in search of stealing profit from a sector which in the US has been extremely slow to innovate.

So Apple releases more old technology and people jizz in their pants?

What's next? Apple Bartercard and Apple Vape Mod?

    • Stop it! Now it's only powder!

We live in Australia, this is irrelevant.
