What's the most comprehensive precision screwdriver kit/set in 2019?

This one here from JayCar seems to have the most but from looking at Amazon's high res images (and feature list) appears it's not really all that comprehensive, for example it's missing some T intermediate sizes between T8 and T0 or T1 if that's the smallest, missing T11 to T14, missing T16 to T19, and so on and so forth, and that's just for the Torx head……and they have 19 other drivers……which are not complete either….

ultimate driver bit set

ultimate driver bit set my ass….hahaha

I thought I saw a 200pcs set somewhere but can't seem to find that anymore to link it here…….and talk about it….it was on amazon.com in case anyone wants to go search for it….

…so anyone would like to point me to a kit/set that has it all including all sizes in existent, and all possible drivers too, in one carry case or what have you please? Saves me from getting two or more sets and they have duplicate drivers and sizes which kinda feels a waste when say you're looking to complete a set and it's just missing one size that's only available in this set but that said already has what you have but is just missing those 5, for example…..but then another set fills those 5 but missing the ones from your current set and the other set……and so on and so forth….

Thanks….

Personally, I quite like the Xiaomi one that’s always available for a deal here. The bits are really well made and don’t feel like cheese (as some of the cheap bits do). There’s also a kit by iFixit that I think is quite solid.

My personal opinion is that you’re better off going for a good quality kit with fewer bits as opposed to a lesser quality kit with a whole bunch of bits you’ll never use. You’ll find that with precision screwdrivers, cheap bits simply just bend after several uses.

You also definitely won’t need all of the intermediate sizes. Usually, it’s fine to use a bit that’s a bit bigger or smaller. Never had any issues before.

Is there a place that sells individual sizes and bits then, rather than as a full case or bundle? That way I can pick the exact one I need/want without the bloat of the others….?

  • What sort of jobs are you going out to?

Sometimes the simpler solution than to get a kit with every bit (and mind you, no panacea is permanent), is to simply accept you may have to make a second trip out for some of your cases and price your services accordingly.

As per pegaxs, I find the xiaomi one very good but then again, I don't really work on small electronics much. As much as I can, for woodwork, metal and PCB, I use Torx screws so I dictate what driver I carry.

This is just for a hobby fixing electronics, that's all….rather than throw the whole unit away and buy a brand new one, I prefer to just take it apart, fix that particular bit that's broken, burnt out or dead, screw it back in and it's as if I got a brand new set……maybe not as clean(depending how badly damaged the outside casing is) but better than forking $200 or some absurd money when the fix is to just open it up, replace the broken bit, screw it back in and it's like brand new again!

Eventually you'll need to replace the whole unit, down the line sometime when the parts needed no longer exists or it's broken to the point that you may as well just get new one rather than try to repair it…..

So what kind of work are you into then?

  • I got this set off here a few years ago and it has been fantastic.
