Philips SwitchStream BlueTooth Headsets $39.80 at COTD

150

The models are SHB6102 & SHB7102, I ran through some reviews, they are not that popular but they are both decent quality product. I read a review said the RRP here is $299 for both of them. I grabbed one each, It's definitely a bargain whether it's used for music or simply as a bluetooth headset. The amazon uk has it for around 150 AUD.

Don't think it will last very long, I did some frequent refreshes and saw they went like crazy.

Don't forget to use MBC money back on it.

  • buying branded with 12 months warranty, i think it is good bargain

    • Yes, I will stay away from any non branded product on COTD. Too many bad experiences!

      • Yes, i will also stay away non branded from COTD (& ebay).

I bought a Nokia bluetooth headset from them which is excellent. (This one is similar, cheap by few dollars and got a bluetooth adaptor which is nice to have for my ipod !). But non-branded DVD players i bought from them is waste of money. Poor quality and one DVD player they asked me to contact vendor who is taking ages to address it.

  • not for me..

it looks jazzy, but in the real life, you have to carry the sender and receiver all the time, plus recharge/replace battery frequently..

I think the wired one is still just fine from now..

    • I think you ought to be able to get away with just carrying the receiver module if the source device has Bluetooth Built-in.. ie. mobile phones and some mp3 players.

I bought a Samsung T10 player (which has built in BT) listed as a bargain here about a month ago and grabbed a pair of Nokia Bluetooth Headphones from eBay to use with it, and it is great not to have cords..

My headset is an over the ear type and it's OK, I find it uncomfortable after a while, over 30 minutes of wear.. and the volume is just OK.. On a noisy train you can't hear quiet stuff well..

I also (and this is probably a good thing really) have found that the bendy bit connecting the 2 "earmuffs" dangles too close to the neck to wear the headset whilst riding a bike..
So if you plan to use these as a phone handsfree set whilst riding, get the earplug style..if you NEED a Bluetooth headset that is.. personally I think it kinda defeats the point with the earplug style though cause you still have to deal with cords..

      • One of them listed there is matching exact, everything in-built.

    • Yes you have to carry the sender and receiver (the headphone) all the time, but the sender size is very small compare to most of the mp3 player you are carrying. For those who carry ipod in your bag/pockets, you just plug the receiver in the headphone jack, and there you go, no more messy wires. I think it's pretty cool.

  • Come on elcheapo … its another cheap gadget to muck around with for a day or two then hand it over to the emo teenagers in my household so i dont have to listen to slash your wrists music ;-)

Thanks for the comments above - I was looking at the cheap divx/xvid players but based on the above will give them a miss.

    • Don't pass over cheapy DVD players in general just because of those posts..I'd reccommend you do get one from a store though, just in case you do get a lemon..

I've owned 2 cheapo DVD players and both have been sensational!!
Both are still operational in fact.
      Both were bought from Strathfield.

The first was an XMS brand (the XMS750) back in the days when DVD's were still "new", I paid a "bargain price" of $200 for it..when the cheapest of brand name players was $600 and were region locked.. it's still running after what must be 7 or 8 years of almost daily service either as CD or DVD player, although it's starting to die, periodically it stops reading discs..

My other one was less than $50 has had less service (more like weekly use than daily) and is younger, an Omni brand, which must be going on 3 or 4 years old..

The only issues with my cheapies have been:
The remotes are cheap and nasty
and the tray on my newer one is flimsy (the old one is fantastic though)

but both perform an excellent job especially at their price, read discs that are "unreadable" or too scratched for other big brand name players.

  • Bugger. This is sold out from COTD.

I've been looking for some wireless Bluetooth headphones for my Samsung T10.

BTW, it was me who found and posted the bargain on the Samsung T10, so if anyone bought this from COTD, I'll gladly give you $50 for yours :-)

  • Ordered mine yesterday. Even without the sender module I think the earphones/receiver mod. themselves are worth at least $40.
