Coleman Instant up 10P Gold Series Tent $479 (Free $30 Tent Fan/Light) Delivered @ Tentworld

110

We've been looking for a family tent and it came down to this Coleman or the Blackwolf Turbo Lite 450 for $1,100. We didn't want to spend that much so we settled on the Coleman.

The free bonus is a Coleman CPX 6 Tent Fan with LED Light.

We also bought a mesh ground sheet for $65.

Good size tent for a family of 4 or 5. It goes up quick and is fairly good quality.

"now is the winter of our discount tents"

I think this price is quite normal. Maybe that $30 is the discount.
Last year (Nov) I bought it for $407 from their eBay store when eBay was having 15% sitewide promotion.

If you exclude the junky fan, this is the standard price on offer.
Can be had on eBay for $470 delivered and it includes an actual useful gift of 20 sand tent pegs.
The silver version can be found at Aldi twice a year and it was even on a clearance sale for what $100 at the end of last year. Or buy two silver 6p tents at Aldi this Saturday for $350 and house 12p instead of 10p and save $100……
Anyway I struggle to see how this is a bargain!

    • Didnt know aldi sells coleman brand tents

      • ALDI sell the 4 and 6 person versions of the lower spec. Coleman. This is a 10 person higher spec model.
ALDI have rebranded of course. Both the ALDI ones ar available 6 April $179 fo 6 person.

        • Thats duplicate. Quality and warranty will be 100% different to the coleman.

          • @virtualds: Yeah and any warranty will be met with "we'll refund you, just take it back to ALDI", and then you have to buy a new one somewhere else.

    • Thanks - have you got the eBay link?

Are the Aldi tents rebranded or just copies?

    • Yeah same price at Snowys with free delivery also.

  • I have this tent. It's awesome. But definitely not instant. Last time I sset it up it took 15 mins for two people.

    Edit*
Just realised mine is a 10p northstar darkroom, which has three rooms.
This one is probably a little more instant.

    • Yeah yours is a big puppy. This is one is also more of a umbrella style instant.

None of the family sized “instant” tents go up in less than 15 minutes though, that’s practically instant for tent though anyway.

    • How does it hold up I the wind? Most reviews I find don't rate it's strength very well

      • I couldn't say really. The only wind it's had to endure is what comes out of my back side.

      • Does alright in 50-60k/hr wind.
Ours got flattened in ~100k/hr gust, then it wouldn't stay up, which turned out to be a pole twisted and the snaplock wouldn't work. The 100k/hr claim is fanciful.

Took the tent back to Tentworld, they replaced the pole for free and made sure it went up.

Its a good tent, the tent pops up in 5mins (so if its raining with light winds, you can shelter inside) but then takes 20-30min to setup & peg down.

As with most tents, the pegs are useless.

  • Just wondering whether it is better to buy https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wanderer-larapinta-dome-tent-10-per… or Aldi tent or this one that op posted?
