If anyone's interested in how I browse OzBargain on Android:

    1. Install Pulse (it's free: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alphonso.pulse).
    2. Add Ozbargain to the sources.
    3. Add a Pulse widget (large) on your home screen and select OzBargain as the source. It'll show you 3 deals in one panel including a preview and you can navigate left and right and even update the feed without having to launch the app.
    • I find the scrolling of Pulse widgets annoying. Have changed to AtomaRSS which has a much more usable widget.

And with LauncherPro, you can resize the widget as you please.

    • how do you make it do the new deal feed?

    c.f. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelineā€¦
"Free Software(Freeware) & Free Websites" Section.

If/when it can be deemed 'useful', Chuck it in the list http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/useful_free_software or the rep can charge for it (which won't be worth it in its current state from what i'm seeing).

This is so NOT a deal. Come on, guys. Vote according to standards, not just cos you like ozBargain.

      I vote according to what I like/hate here, and here's a vote.

You do know that there will be and are times when a post will supercede the posting guidelines… i.e. this one.

And if you want to get technical here, this 'app' is more like a gateway to future deals (i.e. keeps me informed of awesome deals such as free pens and remote controlled cars on the go) - so its a deal within a semi-deal if you're into that inception-y stuff. :P :P :P

*Edit - this reminds of the time that one guy on the horrible review site rotten tomatoes negged Toy Story 3 because he didn't have a childhood to relate to…

      • "there will be and are times when a post will supercede the posting guidelines"
        yes. totally agree.

        "i.e. this one."
No. Far far far FAR from it.

The mobile website does a far better job from what i've seen. There are no inception-y layers here. lol. It's just accessing the same data in a different (and in my opinion inferior) way.

I'm not much against the app as I'm disappointed that the ozB community have swarmed to vote + as they have.

As i said, standards not feelings. =)

I agree, this isn't a deal and should not be posted here.

It has been free since release and therefore belongs in the forums.

I love you. I've been waiting for this for so long.

  • Good on you mate, thank you!

Honestly, what's the point of this again? Stock, Opera, Firefox and Dolphin HD load ozbargain just fine. With 1MB increments this app is literally pointless.

I really think cheekytigerapps needs to explain the security/privacy concerns of some here.

  • +1

So nobody else is concerned that cheekytigerapps hasn't bothered to respond to some genuine security concerns by members here, yet s/he is happily submitting more posts?

    • I havent been checking this section. After doing some research I have found that the security of you phone contacts are safe. I have no access to any information that is on your phone (ie. contacts, numbers). The advertisements use your phone to find the country that you are in and location to provide you with relevant deals. We use Millennial Media to provide advertisements. The application also requires a connection to the internet wether it be via wifi or mobile phone network to get the latest information. The application uses your mobile phones serial number to determine what model of phone you are using to optimize the screen resolution and make use of any buttons (ie. Volume or Exit). The mobile phone also has access to your SD card to write data (will be used in future versions).

      • Ahh so its not free, its ad supported, it just gets better and better.

        • That's like saying Ozbargain itself is not free because its ad supported.

  • Un-installed. I enjoy the features via the browser too much to find this app of much use.
