Installing now :) I will let you know what I think but good work!

    • +2

Yea It seems okay But cant see votes, cant see negs, cant vote and neg etc etc.. I guess as long as it gets improved im happy :)

      • That was just a quick creation. I am going to make it a whole lot better.

      • I would like to see votes as well

  • +11

The RRP of this is $9.99, therefore this CAN be placed as a bargain ;)

    • -7

is that allwed though given ozbargain is free to use and register for. Does cheeky need permission from OZbargian owners/creators to charge for something that is free.

      • +9

        Can't you take a joke?

    • Sorry if I missed the sarcasm.

Well I can't remember Android shop rules but if something is free, doesn't it have to stay free forever?
Wouldn't the RRP (if it actually existed) then be against rules if it never sold for that price

But regardless of anything—>Good stuff OP

  • +1

Its pretty neat, but are you able to add extra features in the future?

Just because it appears to just display RSS so I'm wondering if anything more can be done to improve it or are you stuck as is.

    • +3

In the future I can add things. Anythihg really. I will update it. Maybe even add a Bargain Hunt Game. This is just a rough draft. When I have some free time I will improve it.

      • cool!

Being able to vote and add comments would probably be the needed functionality for me to use it.

  • +24

Very tempted to neg this deal; as its android not ios. Payback time for the drones who do the opposite… hehe

Just kidding but I hope some may get the point about letting personal preferences rule the neg button….

Enjoy the program guys - good luck to you.

    • +1

      if you were being nasty..
      1. If has not ticked the rep box.
      2. 2 posts in one day from a rep.
I'll install and reserve my vote for how the program works. :)

      • if you were being nasty..

Haha I've done some silly things in my past, but I wont fall for that…… not now!! (ie 94+ reasons)

        • -5

awe.. I'm sure NO ONE would mind if you moved this to the forums.. The good people of ozbargain would understand that rules are rules. (not)

        • +1

ahh the irony of it… all those negative votes against me and yet i was rights - well sort of anyway :P

    • iOS sucks nuts. No offence.

      • and I respect your's two… LOL

      • Ooh, is there an app for that?

    • He's got to practise before he can play in the bigtime :)

  • Downloaded. Thanks!
Tiger Icon reminds me of an airline.
Seeing comments, new deals, forms would be fab in the near future.
    Good start.

    • +4

Reminds me more of a frosty cereal..

      • yeah, reminds me of kelloggs frosties instead of d sucky airline.

  • HOORAY…oh glorious app day has come. :)

  • lol… less then 50 dls so far and only one star rating. Let me change that with a 5 star.
    Bam.
Also should you be releasing your personal number in the details? That could be ozbargained too?

  • One quick idea. Maybe have a section thing to go straight to freebies.

  • +5

Thanks. Whats the phone state and identity permision being used for? Ads?

    • ^ This. Any security experts able to comment?

    • +4

An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.

      • +2

sure, I understand what it's used for, but was hoping the dev could enlighten us as to why he needs this permission for the purpose of this app.

        • +6

I agree, this is a bit sus.

          1. Go onto some popular forum with some hastily knocked together app for said forum.
          2. All your phone info is belong to us.
          3. ???
          4. Profit.

I for one have never had a problem using the full ozbargain website on my Nexus One.

Edit: and undisclosed rep voting on comments. Nice touch.

  • Mind reader!

  • another 5 star from me.

  • i also realise, u can only see the first page of OzBargain.. or is it just me?

    • It just shows the 10 newest deals that have been posted on Ozbargain, regardless of whether or not they make it to the front page.

And you can't see pos / neg votes either, which makes this app rather useless, but it is a start to something I guess.

Keep it up CheekyTiger, look forward to improvements. And please make it able to parse comments, especially since moderator posts are important.

  • How to I see more than just the 10 most recent posts?

  • Nice work, thank you

  • +1

Nice, thanks. great start. Any chance of a search function, great when your out and shopping around

  • epic. cant wait to see more development on this app!

  • i won't use this, but good work

  • It's simple but it's better than nothing!

Keep up the good work. <3

    • +5

That's what you (don't) get for buying an iPhone ;)

      • -3

Just use your browser on your ios device, it will be more functional than this 'app' will ever be anyway….

      • -4

I'd rather an iPhone than this app any day! Oh yeah let the negs roll in.

    • sucker :P

    • Ouch It is not me you NEG but the iPhone system.
If early on I had not bought so many games and songs I would transfer.
So I guess that is how you get locked in lol

  • +1

Cool, personally I prefer keeping my OzBargain feed with the rest of my RSS feeds. But + for a free app :)

    • Which widget? stock news widget?

  • Very good cheekytigerapps. You shouldn't have thought Justin Bieber would be more popular than ozbargain though ^_^

  • Great! Just need more development. I'll make use of it when it's ready.
    Cheers.

  • Please don't neg me into oblivion….. but we would also like an iphone version :( …..pretty please :)

    • -3

      Where is the iPhone version?

  • +8

I dont want to take anything away from this, good job and all, but for iOS users:

You can just bookmark the Ozbargain website through safari, and get it to add an icon to your home screen. Voila, Ozbargain app.

    • +4

This will get the crap negged out of it so for the record I couldnt give a toss about all you android fanboys negs…. Oh wait, if you are using the app you cant neg ha ha

I question the OP's motive, first comes on here offering a 'discount' justin beeeeber app (who really cares) and then this app that could have been written in an hour by the sound of it.

Anyone that has downloaded, did you have to sign up to anything? Is there advertising within the app? It all sounds a bit iffy. Expect a whole lot more 'deals' to come your way.

Probably the biggest reason no one has done this until now, is that there is NO POINT as any device with RSS capability or a browser will be better off……

      • +2

Yeah, I made one for ozbargain a year ago and decided that any RSS app would be better anyway…

    • +3

I actually have my own Ozbargain iOS Web app :P

It's not release quality though and it's only useful for checking for new deals.

  • Ohawesome, thx~will try it when i get home~:P

  • I'm an Ozbargainer addict, this news has broad joy to me :). Keep up the good work Ozbargain.

  • +1

Got it off the market now hurry up and get it to SD card TOO BLOODY BIG!

    • Umm? It's 800kb from my app manager.. I was able to move it to my SD Card and run it without any issues.. Running CM7 on HTC Wildfire.

    • +1

iOS is plagued with bugs. and restrictions :S

    • -1

oh, you're too poor for an android, i pitty you.

    • -1

why are android users ultra defensive whenever you mention iOS?

btw I was being sarcastic, voted positive…duh

  • -1

if I could give you 2 votes I would.
Who's gonna give me one for my BlackBerry now? :)

  • +7

You guys do realize this is just a RSS reader right…

    • yea not even proper app but + this deal coz op actually made a move!

  • +2

    JAWSOME.

  • does this not work with the apple iphone?!

    • +3

nope as it is for androids

For Apps on Ozbargain use BargainDesk for iOS

      • +4

        thanks mate

      • That bargaindesk is pretty cool since it covers more than just Ozbargain. I normal just use the web site on my phone it works nice and quick

  • I'll stick with the RSS feed in the reader app for the moment but might pick it up if some extra functionality gets added.

  • Hehe wp7 soon?

    • +2

      for WP7
      use this

  • cool man, thank you very much for this, wish you could teach me how to do this!

  • -1

Ok question for the OP, any plans for an IOS app?

  • well done…
I was thinking of making one myself, but you beat me to it!!

  • +1

    Not on Appbrain yet

  • whoa this is popular =)

  • +1

Sorry, I don't have Android to test it.
Can i ask, what is the purpose of an app? What does it do better than an RSS feed and mobile-formatted version of the website?

    • What does it do better than an RSS feed and mobile-formatted version of the website?

I suppose it's meant to be more functional and user friendly than an RSS feed and more touchscreen oriented than an ordinary website

that said, the mobile version of Ozbargain isn't exactly pretty, so I still prefer to use the desktop version of the page using Opera Mobile, even though it takes longer to scroll through and read.

      • Didn't even realise there was a mobile site - the site doesn't seem to recognise mobile browser agent strings?

    • +1

Well it has the Ozbargain logo… aside from that, nothing.

Frankly you'd be better off using a RSS app as you can then use one app for Ozbargain and other website RSS Feeds.

  • FINALLY!!!!

  • Keep up the good work Christos, it's all gotta start somewhere! :)

    • +1

      there's always one

    • get an android then u can use it =)

    • +4

that's the most stupidest neg reason. iPhone fanboys they don't even know the difference between both platforms =.=
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/ozbargain_mobile_apps

      There is a iPhone app

ps: I'm a iPhone user myself

    • +1

Stupid neg indeed. And yeh, they should make an app for plastic toy phones too, since thats all the classy hobos have.

    • He mad!

    • +4

      Get a new family.

  • +2

My setup on android atm is twitter for the posts (like rss) and use a browser for full functionality on specific deals. Wonder if this is any good.

    • I actually have the same setup for other websites, Never sued it for OzBargain though. I do it for about 25 other websites.

  • +4

I don't know what the fuss is about. Its a rather modest app. Browsing the actual website via phone is still the way to go.

    • +3

agreed! Very basic app, lot of work yet to be done on it, though good to see someone's onto it. Best of all, its on Android - take that Apple boys.

  • +4

Positive vote from me and I know I'm going to receive negative votes, but I honestly don't see the advantage of this app over say any RSS reader. It's just showing the feed; no comments no votes - just a snippet of the post which is just RSS.

I'm no one to judge an app considering I made none myself and I commend the OP on his effort.

    • I agree, I have used the inbuilt news reader for around a year now and have never had any problems. I can click on the deals I like and it takes me directly to the deal for comment!

As noted above I'm also a little worried about the permissions needed for this app.

For now I'll stick to my RSS
