Free Regular Coffee Next Time if Coffee Machine Is out of Order @ 7-Eleven

820

Hey all,
Saw this today and thought I'd share it with you.

Free Regular coffee @ 7/11 (you are given a voucher) whenever they are unable to provide/serve coffee (eg cleaning, broken, out of order etc).

I had no idea about this until today (and this has happened to me before) so thought I'd make other people aware.

I'm not sure if this constitutes a deal or if it belongs in forums, but mods will work it out if need be.

A limit of one per day (for that store) applies.

      Like this?

Lol I know you argued it was common practice, but mods still kept it as a deal right?

      • -7

Mods aren't exactly known for sticking to their own rules around here.

        • I'm sure that will go down very well with everyone. I'm going to bow out before this goes any further.
          (Didn't neg you btw)

          • -7

@pennypincher98: I wasn't going to take it any further until you commented but regardless, I've said more than my two cents now. I'm laughing at the douche who already negged me tbh.

        • +8

You must be the funnest person at social gatherings.

            • @Tacooo: LOL. Bad day? We all have em ;).

    • +2

      This isn't a bargain, it's a general knowledge post.

Agreed. No free voucher at my local one this afternoon…

OP has not mentioned where we can currently get this free voucher.

[Somewhere in Australia during a 30 minute window] Free Regular Coffee Next Time if Coffee Machine Is out of Order @ 7-Eleven

        Fixed it for ya OP.

    • +2

If there's one thing I learnt from the great free chicken fiasco, it's that OzBargainers are extremely short on general (common) knowledge.

  • +1

Why not. My local coffee machine is always out of order

    • +11

Thus you’ll never be able to get that coffee

  • +2

Is this at all 7-Eleven stores or just the ones with that note?

    • +4

Spoke to the guy and he said it's available at all 7-11 stores (you might have to request a voucher) - but the note should be on the machine whilst it's out of action

      • +1

Ah… I haven't noticed such note when my local 7-11 store had its coffee machine out of order. I'll keep this in mind next time I go.

        • +6

Yeah I've been to certain 7/11s where I've literally said "the coffee machine is out of order" and they said "it'll be finished cleaning in 20 mins".

You need to explicitly say to some that you're entitled to a free coffee for next time.

          • @pennypincher98: Do I call HQ?

          • +1

@pennypincher98: The machines are scheduled for an automatic clean at the same time every 24 hours. So in true Ozbargaining spirit, if you know what time the machine goes into cleaning at your local (most stores are usually after lunch so perhaps anytime between 1-3pm), it's a free voucher on the daily. Thank me later.

PS. 'Cleaning' and 'machine out of order' are different. They won't be obliged to hand over a free coffee if the machine is actually down.

According to the guy I spoke to yesterday "whenever we cannot provide/serve coffee to you, you are entitled to a free regular coffee on your next visit"

He specifically mentioned if one is broken and the other is getting cleaned that still counts.

Things like running out of a certain size cup, or out of lite milk etc obviously don't count.

DO NOT STUFF LAST COLES ROAST CHICKEN INTO 7/11 COFFEE MACHINE TO MAKE IT "OUT OF ORDER"

    • +3

Yeah, the roast might be delicious. A baseball bat would be far more effective for making it out of order for longer.

      • +1

Jail time would be long too

        • +3

Years of free food and rent in addition to a free coffee, awesome!

          • @pennypincher98: I think the voucher would be expired by the time you got out.

            • +1

@Daabido: Nah, you have to redeem it that same day at a different store before you get caught and end up on the evening news.

        • Nah you'd get off with a fine and/or community service.

          Worth it.

          (Not really don't do that).

          • @Diji1:

Nah you'd get off with a fine and/or community service.

Unless you had an axe and started hitting people with it.

  • +4

    Inb4 JV

  • +7

Yeah, most stores have 2 machines now. This was relevant when they only had 1 machine.

    • +1

Yeah that's true most have 2 (well at least the city ones) but there's still plenty that only have one outside the cities.

      • my local has 4….might need a bigger baseball bat

  • -4

    Useless post OP

    • +1

I wouldn't say useless, but definitely not a freebie or bargain. It is just an FYI post that belongs in the forums…

  • Which location can I currently get this voucher?

    • BYO Hammer and you can get it at any!
Or maybe you wish to be more discreet and super glue the spout shut :P

      • +1

BYO Hammer and you can get it at any!

And have your mug shot posted on the news that evening.

        • Make sure to wear a bike helmet (or other headgear - decided not to go there).

  • Damn it I went to get one today and it had an out of order sign on it but didn’t read he sign :(

    • +3

If you didn't read it, how did you know it was an 'Out of Order' sign, hmm?

      • Was walking up to it and saw the big writing lol didn’t read the smaller text

  • +1

    Assumed this was common knowledge.
Got this months ago - went up to coffee machine & staff rushed up with a voucher, apologising as machine was being cleaned. Sign shown in Deal thumbnail was on machine. They had a stack of vouchers ready.
Walked around corner to next Brisbane CBD store for free coffee. Staff checked machine & put in fresh milk - so machine was ready for me.
Surprisingly good & friendly service for 7-11. Only single machines at those stores. Was told this is policy at all stores.

    • Obviously they know people on graveyard shifts need the coffee more than day-timers lol… hence they clean during day?

      • Was Saturday morning in mainly deserted office area - so quiet time - good time to clean. Good time for voucher!

  • +5

Imagine Maccas had this offer when the sundae machine is ''''broken''''

    They'd be bankrupt.

    • +1

Off topic but I need to vent.
You know what I hate?? When the ice cream machine is broken, but they'll still serve you a thickshake.

What a watery, sad mess it was.

    • +1

I recently went to one where the chick tried to pump out a cone for me and said to herself "oh looks broken". Mind you it was squirting like a sauce bottle at the end of it's life.
Then some smart girl "Trainer" came and pushed some buttons and it worked flawlessly.

This makes me think at least a good percentage of the time some workers actually don't know how to operate the machine@@@

  • +1

    Can't believe I haven't noticed this!

  • +1

the out of order sign or cleaning sign is always up at my local 7-11 but does not have that added verbiage re the free coffee.
Must only be "participating stores" only.

    • Was about to say the same thing. Machine today just said 'cleaning in progress'

  • +2

Since when has OzBargain become a public service announcement service?

    • …with guitars.

  • +1

Not surprised if someone will break the machine on purpose.

    • +1

      or hide the machine

    • -2
    • -3

Bonus points if you walk in there with your own 'out of order' sign and score a free coffee from the clueless person behind the counter.

Should work well during a shift change over or 0-4am when the attendant is basically asleep.

      • That's considered fraud tho

        • As opposed to deliberately breaking the machine? That would just be vandalism.

  • +1

One of the local Slurpee shops has three coffee machines. Whoever runs the store isn't that smart, because they decide to clean all three at the same time. Once I pointed out to them the stupidity of this, and questioned why they didn't stagger the cleaning so at least one machine was available - they looked at me like I was retarded.

    • Do you look retarded, though? Still, it's a good suggestion you made.

      • Yeah, I probably do.

  • Can someone post which shop's machine broken today? In a need of a cuppa.

    • Haha if it's broken I don't think you'll be getting one!! Unless of course you're then going to spend $1 driving to the next store?

      • No, can I not use the free tix (voucher) in next shop?

        • Of course you can I'm talking about the $1 spent in fuel driving to the next shop

          • +1

            @BillyStm: Ain't driving, it's a waste of money. I walk.

          • @BillyStm: When I used this in CBD - I just walked to store in next street to redeem - it was on my way.

    • We need a live updating database of broken/being-cleaned 7-11 coffee machines.

State and City / Location / Day and time witnessed / Day and time someone else confirms still under maintenance

      • Cleaning doesn't take that long & it may be near end of cycle when spotted. By the time it's posted, may be too late - given time to get to store.

But, as cleaning would probably be a regular (automated?) event & may occur at a store possibly at a given time - would be useful info…
        Maybe ask staff!

      • Do u recon we cash in

  • This is no longer a thing. 7-Eleven has recently removed the ability to print free coffee vouchers from the POS machines.

    • +1

Wow these machines really are a POS now..
Thanks for letting me know, I've reported the deal to expire
