[VIC] Unlimited $2 Trips on Scooti (Melbourne Only)

230
TRYUS

Received a handout for Scooti at the MCG on the weekend for $2 rides using promo code TRYUS.
The app showed the trip cost but then at the end I was only charged $2.

Handout says code is valid until 23/4/19.

Mod: OP is a sockpuppet and is an employee for Scooti

  • I think we should prepare the Yarra and the surrounding trees for clearing Scooti bikes before this takes off

I'm not sure that you understand the concept; the customer is a passenger only, much like in a lot of overseas countries. Hop on, hop off, walk away. Payments via app a la Uber etc.

Probably also a few injured passengers and drivers who have no idea how to ride on a scooter

Safety is still my major concern. Especially not everyone is experienced as being a motorcycle passenger.

This is going to get canned fast once there are a few accidents. I can imagine who the majority of the drivers are going to be too… I wonder if any will try and do an uber eats/Deliveroo selivery in between jobs or on the way lol

If you are alluding to people that probably learnt to ride scooters overseas, in traffic much heavier and chaotic than Melbourne traffic is, I think they would be more adept than a lot of others.
But, as others have said, being a passenger involves some skill as well.
And, other drivers on the road need to have a better awareness of scooters / motorcycles.

      • Actually that is a very good point, that being a passenger does involve a bit of skill too!

        Main thing is an accident.
With a car you end up cursing at a dented fender
On a scooter you may be dead or seriously injured for the same scenario.
        Then there's the rain…

yes but Australian drivers are very agressive and territorial on the roads then most other countries.

So an OS driver might expect to indicate and change lanes and cars would let them. But here drivers tend to speed up, let the horn rip, get abusive ,ect and not let them in. I've seen quite a few incidents/accidents and heaps of near misses with scooter riders doing exactly that and also lane splitting (which I think is now legal).

So IMHO if they're not used to driving in Oz, then they are't really adept at riding in our city traffic.

  • Wait so I have a question. In the T&C it mentions in a 10KM radius from Town Hall.

So if I'm in Richmond can I get a pickup to go lets say Footscray and only be charged $2 cause it's within 10kms or no?

    • I went from Richmond to Yarraville and it only charged me $2.

When you talk about liability, things get real quick:

    • What do I do if I have an accident while driving for Scooti with a passenger and either myself and/or passenger is injured?

The safety of you and your passenger is our paramount consideration. However, if an accident occurs in which any person is injured you must immediately notify the police and/or ambulance by phoning 000. You must also immediately notify Scooti as soon as practicable using the Driver App and an Incident Report Form must be completed and submitted to Scooti within 48 hours or as soon as possible if this is not practicable but never more than 7 days after the accident occurred.

    • What happens if I have an accident while driving for Scooti with a passenger and my scooter is damaged or there is damage to someone else's vehicle or property?

We provide no insurance cover for damage to the scooter or damage to third party vehicles or property. You must have and maintain your own comprehensive insurance policy that provides cover for damage to the scooter and to third party vehicles and property. We recommend NEIB Insurance.

    • Do I need public liability insurance to drive for Scooti?

You should make your own enquiries about your insurance needs but if in doubt we recommend NEIB Insurance.

    • What insurance cover is there for me and my passenger if I have an accident while driving for Scooti with a passenger and either myself and/or my passenger are injured?

No personal accident cover is provided by Scooti and you must have and maintain a statutory third party insurance policy that provides cover for claims arising from injury or death arising out of the use of the scooter as a commercial passenger vehicle. In Victoria, for details of the scope, conditions and limitations of such cover, you should contact the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

    • Hahaha best T&C's I have read today!

So they don't even check if their drivers are insured for at least third party property?

      This'll be fun

  • Is uber and other car sharing platform also covered by insurance?

  • What a stupid app. Let's not turn into Southeast Asia - It's fun to visit but the place is (profanity) and the bikes are ridiculous and dangerous.

    • You're racist! I find your comment so offensive. To call SE Asia a "profanity" place is incredibly disrespectful and out of order. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Just tried code is being rejected.

  • Just got an email saying the extended it to 12/5/19
