Thanks OP, already finished reading it.

    • It seems you've mastered it before reading the book.

  • Sounds a bit fishy…

I could read at 1600WPM in three days. Just takes a little theory and a metronome (use your phone) and most people can do it.

The memorisation claims are BS but it's true that using mind maps and revision schedules that you can remember everything. And do it in 10% of the time that most people devote to "studying".

You can do all this using simple techniques.

This is stuff you learn in "Study Skills" courses/books. And then become dumbfounded at how it isn't taught to people in school but you know, teaching people stuff they actually need to succeed isn't what school is about.

Library or free Uni course is cheapest way to learn study skills.

    a.k.a. "skimming".
This was a big scam / hoax a few decades ago.

“I took a course in speed reading and read War and Peace in 20 minutes. It’s about Russia” — Woody Allen

    • Thanks, my understanding from reading your link is that speed reading distracts from "deep learning", which makes sense. It might be useful if its the last night of summer holidays and you're supposed to summarise War and Peace, but won't work as a tool to deeply reflect and internalise the text.

      • Yes. It is a useful tool for identifying if a particular book or section is relevant to your needs. If so, then you can go back and read it properly.
Normal reading already involves taking in whole chunks at a time. Your eye does not stop on each word, unless you are five.
