    2 weeks is about right

i think mine is sitting at the PO now

  • I ordered 3rd of May, got an email saying CONFIRMED, but haven't heard anything since.

  • +1

I emailed them, and got a reply back saying they have a policy where it should arrive within 12 working days, which hasn't passed for me. They also mentioned meat supply issues, from the demand caused by the OzBargain deal :P so it seems fair enough, as they have to cook the beef as well.

  • I have the conformed and nothing else login to web page and it just says confirmed. My order was the 4th, it better be dam good to have to wait this long. They could at least respond to an email or two.

    • +2

their jerky is awesome. I've ordered 2 lots before and still waiting for my third from this promo. Come on Buckshot!

  • +1

    email them about this topic

there is a rep and i'm sure he'll update all involved once they know its a topic in this forum!

  • +1

I orderd on the 2nd. Anyway tommorow is the 12 working day period..

has anyone received the jerky from this promo yet?

  • +1

Just got an email from Auspost this morning saying my order has just been lodged for delivery. And I ordered on May 2nd as well

  • woops wrong thread

  • Hey guys-posted this on other page (see below)
Massive uptake on product and cooking, racking packing to fill them-
Emails started two days after sale and havent stopped so will try to update here and website guys.

    Take care..

Hello everyone, Just a quick email to let you know we have been working around the clock to fill orders.

We have had meat supply issues as we have had to get in over the last week and a bit a tonne of meat due to overwhelming ammount of orders.

If you havent received your order yet it will be coming shortly-Most orders will be filled within our 12 working day policy which means if you ordered on the 3rd we it should arrive by the 12th.

As most current customers know we do not hold old stock and sell it to ozbargainers it is cooked fresh. Please dont be angry but those who have emailed three days after you have ordered wondering where your jerky is, please understand above.

    Many thanks for your understading-

    Kind Regards,

    The Big Chief

    • I feel bad didn't see the 12 days thing and sent email 2 days later. One question in regards to the example of shipping given, if I had orderd on the 3rd I can expect it on the 12th?? did you mean the 17th??

      • +1

        Yo, 12 working days…..so it's 19th for you.

  • +1

    19th no jerky for me.

    • same~.. hopefully it'll come tomorrow b4 the weekend…. fingers crossed..

    • Still nothing.. No status change nothing! What is going on? :(

  • +4

Got mine today, I was extremely disappointed with my package of Jerky.
    According to Big Chief:
'We did use Satchels but Eparcel is much better - we had numourous careless postal people and our customers recieved exploded bags with jerky everywhere.

Our product is packed in boxes so as not to damage product and works well for us and is trackable for both customer and GJ.'

Guess what, with the HUGE premium in Eparcel lo and behold what did I receive…
    'exploded bags with jerky'
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/63118382@N04/5738860027/in/phot…

I'd rather get an exploded bag of jerky in a satchel than a premium box (+$15) of exploded jerky.
Not to mention I ordered mine on the 2nd of may

'If you havent received your order yet it will be coming shortly-Most orders will be filled within our 12 working day policy which means if you ordered on the 3rd we it should arrive by the 12th.'

    And only got it yesterday.

    • It was a typo. Meant to say 19th. But having said that they say most orders will be filled.. I still havnt received it. I wish they would be more clear how long the delay will be. What order number were you btw?

      • 932

        • 1019

      • 1004.. and still waiting~ I don't actually mind waiting a bit longer.. its just the lack of update/communication on where the order maybe be at..

        • My order seems to have gone walkabout
          Order Number: 00000851
          Order Date: Monday, 02 May 2011 17:30
          Order Status: Printed
Time for me to contact them by phone…. when there open to see whats going on.

        • I agree I dont mind waiting if they say it will be another 1 week.. 1 day.. 1 year !! Just something. Sigh sigh :(

    • -8

      Hello Shadowfangs,

I took on eparcel because an ozbargainer told me it is much better then normal prepaid-

I feel it is much better as it is trackable and the product does seem to get to most customers in great condition.

If your bag has popped open during shipping I am sorry it really is out of our control when it leaves us.

      Kind regards,

      Mark

      • +4

Wow care factor 0 seems they have made
money out of you all and set up the new
        Shop and now don't care

        • +4

Shocking attitude. I think they have done their dash.

      • +3

I'd rather you send me a satchel that costs $5 and spend that $15 on better quality packaging.
If it was the box that was broken then I would understand, but your bags are flimsy and pathetic, that is not out of your control.

I am extremely disappointed to get this response.

And what kind of ozbargainer would recommend more expensive postage! Goes against all laws of ozbargain!

        • -4

The problem Shadow is the satchels crushed the bags…

Also it cost more then $5 to send a 500g+ bag that is trackable

        • +1

Geronimo, correct me if I'm wrong.

I assume when you describe 'The problem Shadow is the satchels crushed the bags…' is the crushing of the bags have exploded the plastic packaging of the jerky.

So here we have exploded bag of jerky, the packaging is a clear film wrapping which is probably has the thickness of normal stick tape.
On the otherhand, the box that the jerky came in did not explode.
The satchel that the jerky came in did not explode.
The plastic bag that the jerky came in explode.

Maybe just maybe the problem is with the plastic bag?

Do ozbargainers care about something that is trackable or something that is cheap and gets to their tummy

        • Hello Shadowfnags,

Do ozbargainers care about something that is trackable or something that is cheap and gets to their tummy?
-It was because of Ozbargainers requesting tracking and eparcel that we now have eparcel.

What happens with the bag and satchel is like a ballon effect-If the postie puts satchel in a pile with heavy parcels on top the weight pops it, the box has prevented this in most causes.

          Kind Regards,

          The Big Chief

*Does that mean if I request for you to go back to satchel that's what you'll do? It doesn't seem like a lot of things Ozbargainers have requested in this thread has been done.

-Make sure the bag isn't full of excess air?

There's not much to say, this has been a fruitless discussion where excuses were made and nothing has been done. I'm over this discussion and certainly never making another purchase.

****We went to boxes as it is a better way to pack Shadow- Satchels crushed a huge percent of bags- Boxes do not.

Shadow-I am not here to argue and make excuses just to explain what happened and answer your questions which I have done.
Also there isn’t a $5 dollar satchel available-It would cost $10.70 without tracking and a huge amount of broken smashed bags.

I hope this help you understand why we have gone the better way.

Email me at [email protected] and I can see if I can make good your busted bag.

      • Disgusting way to reply to a customer.

  • +1

hmm im order 940 and still says printed :( goddamn i'm so tempted to buy some of that crap they sell at the supermarket, but must…..hold….out….

  • It seems that Geronimo either need to anticipate demand and prepare stock before they advertise a 50% off sale, lower their price point so their sales won't be so massively popular, or do both. Learn from this Geronimo or you'll be losing customers.

    • Hell Tony, I think we have learnt a very very big lesson here.

I agree with your comment and did anticipate to some degree-We have already gone through a tonne of beef for the orders.

I have taken the day off to reply to ozbargain and emails too.

      kind Regards,

      TBC

      • +3

        To little to late?

        • Massari,

I am damned if I do and damned if I dont so I may as well respond to as many people as I can.

        • +4

Feel free to reply. I am just saying it would have been great if you responded to us 1 week ago. :)

        • +4

Massari is right, people(or companies) are defined by how they communicate during a crisis. You not only went into hiding for 5 days on the deadline, not answering phones and emails, but you claim no responsibility for poorly packaged products. I'm sure that rushed packaging is to blame since you seem to think choice of packaging is not the problem "We also use a very thick food grade bag for packaging". Maybe one day you will get it right, luckily for us, we learn from our mistakes and wont be ordering again.

          kind regards,
          DaMole.

        • Damole,

Your comment about poorly packed product is far from true but agree about poor communication.

          Sorry

  • Seems like noone answers there phone too.. just tried two times… and if u let it ring out, you get transferred to an external message service??

    • +1

I spoke to him abut a week ago. Decent guy and I think it is really that busy over there. If you let the phone ring out it is suppose to trasnfer to his house number, I suppose there's just too many calls atm.

  • Ahh so nothings changed since he started this business still delayed postage and exploded bags, least its Australian (is it?)

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/19330

    • Yes it is Australian and made in Brisbane…..

We also use a very thick food grade bag for packaging Mikinoz.

I am really so sorry bags explode and it is a very rare thing since we switched to boxes. This was a more expensive way to send our product but alot better to safeguard product.

      Regards,

      TBC

      • +4

The thick food grade certainly wasnt my experience, more like thin and cellophane. Which the meat when dry would easily break through, you say its not your problem or fault that it breaks, it is actually in your best interest to deliver a quality product to the customer is it not

Nice to hear about the boxes although like others the dry salty taste was a little boring for me and turned me off.

Great at first but i dont beleive you are too consistant with product or delivery which is why i purchase elsewhere .

Best of luck and dont forgot your past here on Ozbargain and all the supporters you used to have…

        • Mikinoz,

I did not state that it is not our problem-however I did take the advice from an ozbargainer last year and start using boxes.

We do use food grad 50um bags for our product and pack it in the very best possible way.

Since we have started using boxes last year we have only had one person contact us with a bag opened.

          Regards,

          TBC

  • I ordered on the 2nd of May and just received it today. I have ordered from them before and the quality is good, however, with this order, the jerky is soooo dry to the point that its crunchy, it's like chewing charcoal meat. It is not edible. Is there some sort of quality assurance Geronimo offers to its customers?

    • +2

Yeah, I've had that before too, on a 1kg order. I emailed them with my complaint and was asked to remind them next time I made an order and they would "see what they could do". With some reservations I made a subsequent 1kg purchase, at full (OzBargain) price, and nothing extra came. I emailed them again and was sent a handful of 5g sample bags. It makes me think twice about re-ordering, as I find the texture seems to be getting drier and drier, but I seem to be a sucker for ordering every time there is an OzBargain. To be fair, when they get it right it is great jerky!

      • So they didn't even offer a refund or anything? I want to send this stuff back cos I just can't eat it. I have emailed them so I'll wait to see what they say. I ordered 1kg too, so it's a fairly large amount. Disapppointing.

        • get back to us on their reply to your email~ I went overboard and got 2kg's.. 2 of each…. hopefully the quality will be fine or else I'll have to contact them as well.. Kind of regretting it now with the late delivery and possible lack of quality… still waiting for it to come…

        • No reply yet but I'll keep you posted

        • Still no reply, how long is the customary wait for a reply before making a paypal reversal?

        • I think 22 days (well 23 now) is more then enough to ask for a refund :) Ive esculated my paypal claim. Not long befoer I get my money back..

    • I got a 500g bag this time and this is what came to me.
There is not really any chew at all, just flaky breaks apart.

  • +1

Doesnt look like anything has arrived today. Sigh looks like I wont be buying from them again :)

  • +3

Knew I should have just went to my usuall guy http://biltong.net.au/ it was already cheaper without a discount required and I have never waited more than 2 days for an order even tho most of the time I do pickup. I might see if I can organise a group Buy if anyone is interested, I usually get the moist fatty biltong :)

    • +1

yes i have also ordered for them good stuff also from

      http://www.africashop.com.au

i ordered form Geronimo and got a split bag and crunchy so never went back
dont order the sample size its like a 1c coin size sample

    • +3

I just placed an order on their website. I was a Geronimo Jerky advocate but they seem to have gone right off the boil lately. Not anticipating demand is poor business practice when it's not the first time it's happened. I also don't like the way they treat customers when they get overcooked goods - read 'endotherm's post above - it was super dry, and when he complained they responded with "we'll see what we can do" (and upon the next delivery, received nothing). In this age of huge business competition you can't afford not to look after your loyal customers.

Biltong.net.au are much cheaper too. I'll report my results soon.

  • +1

Looks like I am close to doing a paypal reversal :) I might try giving them a call first to cancel (if they pick up) cause it looks like they are not giving any answers…

  • Well nothing today once again…

    • Me either :(

    • nothing for me as well….

  • +1

just received my order today. Ordered on May 2nd. Also, I find the jerky is quite dried. The taste is ok though, but sheer driness just kills it.

    • Well I can tell you straight if this stuff doesn't arrive and it's the best tasting jerky i've had it's going back, if it is dry it's going back and if it aint here tomorrow paypal dispute time. I have phones 4 times and sent 3 emails enough is enough.

      • +1

haha I did my paypal dispute today. It automaticaly cancels the order (automated) just have to wait for them to refund my money. I tried to call them no answer. No relpies to my emails except 1 to say they will look into (but never replied).. I guess I will just make my own jerky with the money. Very un-professional, and I expected better tbh. Ah well :)

        • +3

I'm not sure if this is considered ill manner, but there are other places that sales jerky, at way cheaper price and with better taste as well. If you are interested in buying from WA, I can recommend you one.

    • Out of curiosity, what was your order number? Mine's #906, ordered on May 2nd, yet to receive any notification that it's been shipped.

  • +1

I did not receive a reply from my email but I did receive a message from my paypal dispute. They asked me to provide the batch number which is found above the use by date. I suggest anyone who contacts geronimo to include this in their emails to save some time.

  • +2

still no jerky :( wow i'm so dissapointed in the big chief. I thought their jerky would be super high quality, i had previously ordered the sample pack which I guess i thought was quite dry but i assumed that's how good jerky was supposed to be. I hope i don't just get 500g of carbonised meat.
I would rather not force a refund via paypal and hope geronimo jerky will do more to help out its customers, certainly alot more than just a "we'll see what we can do next time you order". I won't be ordering again if that is the case.

Further, not having the initiative to email people who have ordered >12 bd's ago and give them an update on what is going on is poor form. Hope this batch of jerky isn't over dried and makes up for it.

  • +1

think this is going to be the last time they will get free advertising from this site

when ever they next post a deal

    link this forum topic

they ride the cheap success they got from websites like this
now they will burn with their poor service

  • -5

    Hello Everyone…

Yes very unprofessional as we have had dramas with meat suppliers- we have posted that there will be a delay on website and ozbargain. For the people that have not received product I am very sorry its coming very soon.
We have been cooking night and day and packing and sending out but have had an alarming ammount of orders ontop of supplier issues. This has been fixed…If you havent received your order you should be getting an email confirmation via eparcel soon to say your jerky is on the way. All bags will be 500g++

Our product has also not wavered in quality as this is one of the delays from suppliers- we still use private select and have not altered quality.

    Kind Regards,

    The Big Chief

    • +4

Hi Big Chief does this mean people complaining of extremley dry jerky have nothing to worry about because thats how it's supposed to be??

    • funny how u response every time i post :P

    • +1

Yes it is very unprofessional when you don't answer phone calls, reply to emails or even state what the delay will be.

      What mejutty said too ^^

    • +7

I have never ordered from these folks and I never will. They have treated their customers very poorly, but the final nail in the potential order coffin is that in the face of complaints, they say their quality has never waivered.

I was at International Foods (IF) in Freo (WA) around the time this special came out and I saw billtong there for perhaps less than what these guys were charging for their "special" I think you could select the bits you want with tongs.

I am furious on behalf of Ozbargainers that they are denying quality problems. Also, it is pathetic that they are blaming their FAILURE to answer emails and take phone calls on their supplier. If a supplier mucks you around, you let your customers know and you keep them updated all the time. You do not neglect to answer emails and phone calls due to supplier issues. These people sound very dodgy - we'll make it up next time…… Glad I didn't bother. I am tempted to go buy some local Biltong now.

      • +2

It should be noted that by nature jerky and biltong are different where biltong can be very moist but I would be interested in hearing from somoene who has had Geronimo Jerky in the past who may have purchased from the last deal that we are waiting for who can comment on the quiality.

        • +1

I ordered in January this year just to try out to see what the fuss is.

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37990

Shared it amongst my colleagues who thought the jerky was tough and quite salty. The taste itself was not too bad but I wouldn't buy it again as I was not expecting it to be so tough.

The jerky was not dry, just really tough. In regards to the taste… well.. I think the only difference is the level of spiciness and salt. If it was not so tough, I would actually like it.

        • +2

I still have some left from a previous order, which I consider to be "alright" but a touch dry. I keep it stored in an airtight container in the dark. I don't claim to be a jerky connoisseur by any means, but I know what I like. I measured this sample with a moisture meter http://www.dealextreme.com/p/4-point-digital-moisture-meter-… and it measured 30%. According to Wikipedia, …moisture content … must meet a 0.75 to 1 moisture to protein ratio in the US (USDA Food Standards and Labeling Policy Book, p. 83). I guess that means the optimum moisture is about 40%. I don't know whether they are over-drying the product or burning the meat but something is making it "crumbly".

  • Finally i have received the email "Your parcel (1) from Geronimo Jerky has been despatched with Australia Post."

    Ordered on 2nd of May.

    • yay for you~ boohoo for me… im still waiting for that email….. i wonder how soon is 'soon' Im guessing i wont be getting mine today either then..

  • Finally Arrived. I ordered 500 grams of buckshot.

    Here's what you get: http://i52.tinypic.com/2nsluno.jpg

This is the first time i've ever eaten beef jerky and i think its quite good. Its not black because its burned, its just well dried like its supposed to be. It is a bit crunchy but I like it that way, if the meat had a higher moisture content it would probably be chewy and hard to eat particularly for someone like me with a bad Jaw. The strips of meat are nice and long and the seasoning is mildly hot and a little bit sour/peppery. The flavour of the meat and spices come through very nicely.

A good source of protein and very tasty. As a snack good its a much healthier alternative to potatoe crisps.

Taking so long to deliver because of some need to be fresh seems quite silly.
It doesn't need to be fresh, its dried meat, its meant to last and should last quite well on a shelf or in storage when this dry.

I've noticed Jack links at the supermarket but its usually in a very small packet, looks sad, and is quite dear.
The full price of this Jerky is much too high and is definitely not worth buying either though. Its good Jerky, but in the end its just seasoned and dried meat and isn't worth paying 50 dollars for 500 grams. Infact I'd like to see it somewhere in the twenty dollar range and at my local supermarket :D.

I feel like some more, but i dont feel like waiting a month or paying the full price. I think I'm gonna learn to make my own.

    • was your bag "500g++"

    • I've noticed Jack links at the supermarket but its usually in a very small packet, looks sad, and is quite dear.

Just want to reply to that comment. It is I think 90$ a KG (or 80, I forgot) and when its on special it gets down to 60$/KG. SO its the same as these guys pretty much :)2.99$ / 50 gram packet on special. Having said that, their jerky is crap haha.

Im making mine as we speak :D

    • +1

I never liked Jerky. Had tried it quite a few times before, but yuk. Tasteless cardboard.
When Chief offered the "hottest" beef in Australia, couldn't resist.
      Love this stuff.

  • I think someone should do a summary of the points raised here and also their responses
its all over the place currently!

  • I have just received my jerky (ordered on 2nd of May). The quality is similar to what it was when i last tried it over a year ago, in that it is quite dry and some bits are hard and require careful chewing (the buckshot is a quite salty though). If you are expecting soft easily chewable jerky like the jack link / supermarket variety then look elsewhere as this is like chewing actual dried beef. Overall the quality is pretty good, if not for the long postage delays.

Can we stop being pathetic children and voting down rep comments?

If you disagree, use the reply button.

The point of downvoting is to hide the comment, not if you disagree.

    • +4

I disagree! :) Stay on topic!

  • Dam this sucks, i've been on night shift all week and was looking forward to nothing other than sitting here chewin jerky while configuring a new file server. (setting permissions sux) still nothing no email just have to wait. I had to have some blood work done the other day now I'll probably get told I can't eat it once it arrives.

  • +1

    Big chief,

Why don't you guys invest in a vacuum sealer? No more popped bags, and you can send it using a satchel and save on the boxes?

BTW STILL NO SHIPPING ADVICE, seriously it is almost a month since I ordered.

    • same~ I remember last week.. I was hoping to get it b4 the weekend… bahhhhhh another week gone and still waiting~

    • -3

      Hey Random,

      Whats your order number?

We have vacuum sealers but dont use them any more as it doesnt work with our product.

I really do appriciate the suggestions as if there is a better way we will do it.

      Kind Regards,

      the Big Chief

      • order number is 940, i'm suprised they don't work with the jerky, i vacuum seal anything and everything and it works really well!
alternatively how about sending them different size tubing, they are much stronger than boxes, although you would need to modify the type of bags you use to be longer thin ones. Not sure how practical that would be.

Anyways, although i've grown inpatient, i still think it's important to support these guys, they're an aussie business obviously trying fairly hard. You don't see to many other business owners replying to customers at midnight on a Friday.

No emails here either, and this is order #906 (May 2nd)!! Very disappointed in this company, it's my first time buying from Geronimo but so far I'm not impressed.

Think I had a bit of a delay with my first order.
You know what that meant - FREEESSSSHHHHH - YUUUUUUMMMMMM
What excuse can we think of for another sale - wait, isn't there an important birthday (read long weekend) coming up.
Sounds like Chief might be too tired after last sale :)

Started a paypal dispute a week ago, no response apart from a message asking for batch number, which I supplied. No responses since. Not happy, Jan!
