  • Good price! Would like a faster card however that price is seriously tempting me!

    • +5

The Sandisk 32GB card is the fastest card available right now for random I/O. Things like running an OS and/or apps off it are hundreds of times faster than other cards. The downside is that sequential writes are only half that of the other options. Horses for courses and unfortunately there is no good all-round card. This is the closest you can get to that right now.

I did read somewhere that WindowsPhone7 recommends the use of the sandisk 32GB card because of its great random I/O performance.

Just bought one thanks to this reply and your post on WP! Thanks for the info! :D

        • Ya cheers for that, turned my attention to the fact I need one for my new sparkling machine :-)

  • I guess these would be OK for bulk storage on mobile devices/phones, though it would be an absolute pain in the arse to transfer gigs of data at Class 2 speed. Most likely would not be fast enough to keep up with HD video recording either.

Edit: Hmm, the images say Class 2, but the listing states Class 4. Still, my comments remain largely relevant.

    • I don't know if the bit about HD recording is true or not. Maybe for 1080p recording? My Samsung Galaxy S has a HD recording mode, but it's just 720p. It seems to record at around a meg a second… wheareas this sandisk 32Gb card has an average sequential write rate of around 6 meg a second (according to the benchmarks I've seen), so it's plenty fast enough for HD video recording for my phone at least.

Though I do agree it'd take ages to transfer gigs of data at 6 meg a second (assuming this sandisk card is the proper class 4 one)

  • I just bought a 16gb.. If you scroll down, it says:

    Brand New
16GB Sandisk Transflash/ MicroSD Card (Class 4) with Adaptor

but in the pic, it's a class 2?! What the…?

    • +3

I'm pretty sure Sandisk don't make class 2's anymore, its like they have re-badged their old C2's as C4's.

    • +2

The seller would be obliged to supply you with a Class 4 card as per the listing. If you are sent a Class 2 card then the item would not match the description and there would be grounds for dispute via eBay/Paypal.

      • Cheers guys, for putting my mind at ease.

been burnt twice on ebay with micro sd cards claiming they are 32gb, turned out to be fake.. shipped from Sydney and another from USA.. Turned out to be 1gb cards reprogrammed to read as 32gb.. This auction doesnt state if its genuine so i will be staying away. buyers beware.

    • +8

I hear ya, but this is Shopping Squares eBay account. I've bought many Sandisk cards off them in the past and never got a fake from them.

      • +5

Yep, these guys are honest, I can vouch for that. I ordered a couple a few weeks ago, they turned up in a timely fashion & were ridgy-didge Sandisk, both still working a treat! :)

    • +1

They also haven't had any negative feedback around fake SD cards, hmm for this price its tempting, my phone could do with some more storage

    • bought one last time at 80bucks. Genuine and fastest shipping outta my ebay life…tho my ebay purchasing history is less than 10 lool

    • I can vouch for the seller; I bought the exact same 32GB from the same seller back from this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/42351
This time round, it's $10.00 cheaper!
And it is Class 4, and going strong.

      • can you test the 32gb card with h2testw v1.4 and let me know if it passes the test, if so then i might jump on board.

        • i did that on mine. and it passed.

    • Did you happen to pay ~$40 for them, hoping that they were somehow an amazing bargain? :)

    • double post

    • The guy there states that Sandisk dont make cards higher than Class 4. Does anywone know if thats true? I couldnt find any such reference on the Sandisk website.

  • This guy sells the genuine stuff and it's cheaper….

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320638…

    • I refuse to deal with those kind of sellers purely on principle…here's why:

Title contains: Fast & Free Shipping From USA !

Postage: US $2.99 Standard International Flat Rate

What kind of BS is that???

      • +1

Yeah I think he means free shipping from the USA within the USA. Could be worded better.

Nevertheless I have bought a lot of memory cards off this bloke and he has always provided the genuine article, at a price cheaper than I can obtain here in Oz.

This ebay listing classifies disc as Class 4 but shows image of a class 2. Not very trustworthy…

    • +5

Do we really have to go thru this with every SS micro/SDHC post???

Can't you guys check the previous SS posts & see the same asinine question gets asked every time with the same answer…they just haven't updated their picture in MONTHS; that's it, they're not dodgy, they're just either busy or lazy, or both!

They've been selling reliably on here for literally years, all you've gotta do is click on danilochan's name to see the history…this is the same due diligence BTW that you should be doing for EVERY bargain posted here until you get to know the regulars!!!

      • Sorry dad, in future we'll do our homework before we ask questions in class..

        • Good boy! Here's a wowwy-pop! ;)

  • Why does this say one day offer when eBay says 19 days remaining ?

    • So you buy straight away. Common sales technique.

  • Does a class 4 mean the minimum write speed is 4MB/s or minimum read speed is 4MB/s, or both?

    • Minimum sequential write speed.

      • Benchmarks indicate the 32Gb class 4 card does around a 6Mb write speed though.

        Check here:

        http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1582172#r…

Has good sequential read speed (19 meg a second), pretty low sequential write speed (6 meg a second) but really really fast random write speeds (compared to other brands).

  • I am tempted to buy one but:

With all this talk about read and write speeds, can someone confirm for me:

I would like to be able to install it in my new Cannon IXUS, which does Full HD (1080) video recording, someone suggested above, that it might not be fast enough. Will it work or not?

OR i am thinking of putting it (a bigger one) in my android phone, and putting the old one into my camera….

either way, how do I know if the SD card is fast enough..?

The original one that came with the phone, I have in my hand right now, but can't tell what class it is. But, the phone does do 720 video recording so I know that it is capable of that at least.

    • I've tried these cards in my sony that does h264 AVCHD 1080i @50Hz and it is fine. You are looking at about 3MB/s for a good 1080 stream. So most cards will do just fine. The 32GB one here is close to 6MB/s

Why not try your existing card in it first?

  • Purchased a 16GB for my smartphone (at about the same price I paid for my 8GB, almost a year ago) - bargain!

  • Why would H2TESTW report:

"Warning: Only 341175 of 464288 MByte tested."?

    • Was the cardfreshly formatted, or did you run h2testw on your card after copying some data to it?

      • fresh out of the box, but at 32GB why would it report more?

        • Not too sure about that.

Actually, unless I've missed something obvious, those reported capacities make no sense to me. A 32GB card should theoretically equate to 32768MB (32GB x 1024MB/GB), but a value of 341175MB means that h2testw is reporting a capacity of ~333GB (341175MB / 1024)!

Have you successfully read a 32GB card with your reader before? IIRC some readers don't read 32GB card properly.

    • Trying again on another PC

      30424MByte, that's better.
      5.53MByte/s write speed

      Thanks.

Full results when I have them.

    • Stutter

  • its $59.00 with free postage now!!!!!!

  • After some problems I tested the card I received with H2testw today and it failed to verify twice. Anyone else has that problem? The last card which failed to verify in H2testw for me was a fake I bought on ebay.

    • It looks I spoke to soon. After reformatting the card on the Test-PC and re-running H2testw it came out good. I have no clue why that is so. I had the card in the Nook Color where it cause errors after a while. On the PC all is good now.
