The last iPhone before Apple became "courageous"

    • +2

last iphone was the iphone 4. before apple started copying others instead of being copied.

        I'm referring to this

It's good to reminded of Apple's stupid design choices - like that mouse charging port and the apple pencil charging method.

@AdrianW: no they make you think you're stupid for pointing it out.

iphone 4 antenna gate response: "just don hold it that way idiot"

      • the last iphone was the iphone 3

i think the iphone 4 was a big leap from the iphone 3.

"retina" display. the from factor and the camera back in its day was quite an achievement. Bar the antena gate debacle, i think my fav iterational improvment was the 3gs > 4. lol

          • @Jaduqimon: im very sorry I wanted you to go 'no iphone 2' then i would have said 'iphone 1' but I appreciate your sincere point

  • Remember the time people where outraged by Apple slowing down phones?

I think we have reached peak Apple, the current pricing and relatively minor improvements means the appeal of having an Apple phone is declining IMO.

Apple customer service has also taken a nose dive IMO. The last time I dealt with them they insulted me, and this was from a manager. The matter is still outstanding but they just ignore me.

For the price this phone is good relative to the latest model iPhones. But as a phone which might soon be outdated by iOS updates maybe it’s not such a bargain.

May I ask what your problem with your apple product and how apple handled it/did not handle it.

    • +1

Apple is setting itself up very nicely. Because Apple knows that it is not as popular as it once was (this is pure statistics), it's dipping it's toes into the software market.

There's no denying Apple's iPhone sales are plummeting, and increasing the price can't fully cover that up.

  • 4k video? Really?

Would this be the right place to say it's a good price for an iPhone but not exactly a good price?

    • I'd say this is a good comment about the price of an iPhone, but not exactly a good comment.

      • Just replied before I could edit.

If this is to be believed, it could put Apple back on the right track - without notches or a $2000 price tag.

Or the proposed XE (name subject to change) could also boost sales.

With Tim Cook's desire of simply earning a buck, I wouldn't be surprised to find 6 new iPhones in the next 12 months each targeting a different niche (4, 5, 6, 6.5", notch etc).

  • These are so bad… when you are a little clumsy, mate broke his screen twice in the space of a month, from waist height, even though he had a cover (generic).

I always give him hard time about the fact Ive dropped my HTC10 at least half a dozen times from higher with the std HTC cover (very similar feel to his), and yet to break.

Anyone who owns one of these recommend a good OZBargain certified cover that does not take away the phone's look?

The trick is to put 2 layers of screen protector on it. This comes from someone who has smashed her iphone 6p screen multiple times.
Also, he can consider getting an EFM tough case from officework. I was lucky to get one on clearance for $3. Solid stuff.

      • Thanks, I'll look into it.

      • What kind of screen protectors are you meaning? Two tempered glass on top, or two plastic, or one of each?

        • +2

I am guessing maki means two tempered glass screen protectors?, not sure. Maybe even two 'plastic' type protectors…

          • @ozf1: Yup. I meant tempered glass screen protectors. Plastic protectors are useless.

    • Just wondering what is a std HTC cover as I am interested too ( current HTC 10 user with generic cases ).

Hi ozhunter, I thought Id share the page link, I refer to the HTC10 tpu cse $12.00 buckaroos. This is what I've got on mine.
There was also a 'smart' case or s'thing along the lines for around $100, but never got one.

    • Had a 6 for 3 years, not a mark on it.

It's about having respect for your stufF. Tell your mate to try it sometime.

This came up today. It was shortly after I visited the store asking for a price match. No stock anywhere apparently. I may cynical but I think this is there to match HN price without the need for the 5% match discount. The lack of stock seemingly anywhere is just to piss you right off.
