Anyone Here Made a DIY Home Carbonation System for Soda Water?

I’m loving soda water. 0kJ and stops me snacking.

It’s healthy and I love it. A bit expensive though as I refill soda stream bottles about once every 6 weeks for 15-20

Anyone been able to do it cheaper? A DIY CO2 canister?

  • Buy a soda stream and refill using dry ice

  • Buy an adapter on eBay and a tank

Far cheaper, but I go through far more. I would use a SodaStream 60L canister every week or two if I had it as I carbonate 4L per day and have it far more bubbly than Sodastream's maximum.

So instead of $500+/yr plus a lot of mucking around, I use BOC's $79/yr deal: 6 kg tank rental, comes full, includes one refill per year. One tank would last me about 10 months at that rate, but realistically lasts a year due to holidays etc. About $50 worth of hardware to connect it up, as detailed in the thread linked, however I went through TripleJ Brewing as I didn't know about that thread when I did it. Triple J seem to be cheaper too - plus they have high pressure tubing by the metre rather than 12m.

Not sure how much you're drinking, but take care of your chompers op, soda water is acidic and erodes tooth enamel.
