After deals for 2 phones and preferably where I can get one for free :)
One phone just needs to be able to load apps and make calls - all other specs are not important. The other one would preferably less than $500 with good camera specs, storage and apps (modern day millenial phone). Have been looking at the OnePlus 6 but this is quite pricey so looked at some Samsung models and Google Pixel 2.

Could be a good negotiation technique if you go in to a store e.g. good guys.
could be but the prices at the good guys are like $900 so may not be worth a free $100 phone

Of course they are reliable. Just not for much other than gps and phoning hahahaha.
When you can get brand new rubbish smartphones phones from Coles/Woolies at $19-$29 (look at your catalogue from week to week). I can't see the demand on gumtree being that high once you pay another $5-$10 unlocked externally.
But for your needs I think you will need a decent basic phone to even run apps. Old phones have terrible ram and storage. You would want at least 16gb of storage from the sounds which quickly fills up with updates and bloat. Aim for 32gb.
