      Q:What size is the pizza?

I be keen to know what size are the Fettuccine Bolognese, Calamari & Chips, Schnitzel & Chips ? kids meal size i presume? for $5, there is no way they're serving adult size.

        Are you an accountant ?

        • +5

How the question got anything to do with accounting ?

      • They are normal size. The steak is smaller to be inline with price point.

Q:How can the steak be cooked?
A: Steak can be served Medium to well or well done only

      wtf no medium rare? ruined.

  • -6

They don't look the best, I think i'd even take a $5 McDonald's meal over those choices..

  • How good is their steak?

    • +2

they have the more pricey steaks in store but this $5 steaks are not to be fancy about. Can't complain for 5 bucks with chips though

    • Not too bad, used to work there.

      • Do Rashays workers normally eat the food too?

        • +6

Yeah we did, the parmys were a solid 7/10.

        • By being professional taste testers on the job ? or did you mean did they also eat socially at the same place they worked at..

          • -1

@jason andrade: That is what I was referring to; did you/he/she normally 'taste' the food before serving it to the customers, in kitchen (on roster)?

            • @tempura: so you cut a corner of the steak to taste, then serve the incomplete piece to the customer ?

              • @dcep: I don't know, I never work at Rashays

            • -1

@tempura: Nobody said that. Calm down.

        • -4

Do Rashays workers normally eat the food too?

Is this even legal? Isn't that counted as theft? Unless its part of their employment contract, i consider it as a thievery.

No wonder many restaurants closed down because of the lack of sensible mindset of their employees.

    • +1

Except they can't/won't cook a medium rare steak. Last time I was there I had to have it medium or rare. I said well cook it rare but leave it on for another minute each side. Umm we can't do that sir.

      • -2

Technically, if you don't eat it straight up when cooked rare, you'll get medium rare anyway; why complicate things? just ask for rare then wait for 5 mins before eating. let it rest.

      • -2

I said well cook it rare but leave it on for another minute each side. Umm we can't do that sir.

If you can do it, you would be in the kitchen not them? Just sayin

      • heh I bet its because of everyone's different definition of what med rare is…

I was at a posh restaurant where they had a picture of the each of the different type of cooked steaks.

I got med rare, it was more the rare side, still do able, just didn't finish the middle.

A girl in our group ordered well done, she got med rare, had to send it back, it came back medium, send it back again. The cook came out to claim thats how they cook it… I'm like why have this picture then if you don't follow it.

Refusing to cook well done even medium occurred in the 80s… not now

    • It's a killer of a steak for what you pay.

  • +4

Does anyone think they could do a grand slam of all 5 meals in one sitting?

    Would be a good effort.

    • +1

If someone else was paying, sure!

  • +3

Rashays is just microwaved food but can't complain for $5

    • They only use the microwave to heat up the brownie so the chocolate melts inside

  • Steak was great but only come with tomato sauce. They don't promote this upfront until we have asked for the lunch special menu.

I didnt let the manager upset, order a drink to let them keep the thin profit

    • +3

you're in any relationship with the duty manager?

  • Nothing in or around Brisbane City, sigh

    • There is one in Toombul shopping centre.

  • Nice there's one at darling Harbour. Will try the pasta when I'm there. Thanks OP.

  • anyone know if it is cooked fresh or cooked and then heated up or under heat lamps?

    • +1

      Cooked fresh. It all is.

  • +1

Do their stands at food courts count as restaurants and therefore included in this deal?

      • Offer available for dine-in only.
  • +1

    This is an amazing deal.

Dine In only? Well there goes my plan of getting one for dinner as well as lunch.

    Any doggy bags available?

    • +1

Just bring your own container ? If you eat something dine-in and take the rest with you their carefactor would be low ?

      • +1

Good point, hopefully they won't mind (although some refuse you).

  • +1

Out of curiosity . What cut of beef would they use to get it at $5 a serving.

    That's amazing price

  • -2

Don't bother. Had two steaks and cheese pizza today between two of us. Bugger all cheese on the pizza, but worst of all was the crap cooked steak. It was like they stewed it or microwaved it for 2 minutes with no grill marks. Did not look like the picture. It was raw at best and chips were near cold…. Go get a KFC $5 snack instead.

    • Which location ? We were thinking of organizing a work lunch to try it out (there's a Rashay's about 5 minutes away..) but if it's genuinely terrible then maybe there's not much point..

      • Belconnen, Act. The chicken snitz looks ok…. And you probably can't stuff that up… Or can you.

    • +2

As I would have expected. Seriously, the meals in this picture look vile. More like kids meals to me. Unless there's no other choice, what kind of adult has tomato sauce with steak?
