eBay Plus Trial Rejection Letter

As a heads up to those who have just signed up to the Easter eBay Plus trial membership. They're apparently deleting the trial memberships of those who have already had a trial - so just make sure to check if you still have eBay Plus privileges before you buy something. Just received this message from eBay regarding the latest intake of trial memberships (found here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/449452):

"Dear Member,

We are contacting you because you recently signed up for a 3-month free trial of eBay Plus as part of our eBay Plus Easter promotion however you had already taken advantage of an eBay Plus free trial prior to this promotion.

As per the eBay Plus Terms & Conditions, the eBay Plus Easter promotion was available only to ebay users who signed up for a free trial of eBay Plus for the first time between 8 April 2019 and 30 April 2019.

As a courtesy we have provided you with a second free trial until yesterday, 30th April 2019, however, in the next 7 days, you will no longer be entitled to receive a free trial of eBay Plus and your ability to access the benefits of the program will cease.
Our customer service team has been made aware that users such as yourself have been given the benefit of the additional free trial period to the end of April. They have also been instructed that no extension to the courtesy free trial period is available.

You can still sign-up for a $49 annual eBay Plus membership.

I like using ebay plus to buy items that may potentially have to be returned for no fault of the item (so outside the normal eBay protections), so if they just removed my trial without me knowing then I may have purchased something without protection. So hope this helps others.

    • my thought when I read the email: "how rude they are!" They are not only embarrassed themselves by not checking their system before launched but also lost customers after this. No one want their pathetic ebay Plus, I'd rather do Amazon Prime.

      • I'd be fine with buying Ebay plus if it was a month to month thing.

I don't buy nearly enough from ebay to warrant a straight $50 fee, not when I'd be paying it to get outta shipping fees.

        • they issued an invoice a 1-month subscription for $29 and of course, I raised this issue to them and not long after that, they send me a waived fee letter like everyone here below. What a big scam

  • I got the same just now advising the same. It was great till it lasted.

  • Just received the same, can't say I'm surprised

Got the same. So basically they didn't build in a check to see if you'd had a free trial before, advertised the free trial when you logged onto the site, and then claim 'you didn't read the t&c's' lol. eBay keep making their offering less and less desirable tbh.

    Their loss.

I've bought a few items with Ebay Plus over the last few weeks. Without it I would have gone with Amazon Prime.
Business must be booming to push customers away like Ebay is doing.
They keep dropping discounts, keep increasing minimum orders to qualify for them, and keep excluding more and more items each.

I wish them the best (not really but anyway).

    • Terrible time to do it to. AmazonAU isn't to shabby nowadays, so probably not a good idea to push Aussies (and with them the businesses on ebay) away.

  • Merged from eBay Plus Membership cancelled

Has anyone elses eBay plus membership being cancelled ( those whole took advantage of second 3 months free trail)

It was their fault because they didn't have the proper system, and their email sounds like the customers are taking advantages of them.

  • Good while it lasted. I am not sure how eBay could be so naive and act surprised that this has happened.

Got the same mail. Bye eBay I am going to Amazon.

They should have just let ppl ride out the 90 membership, then those that forget to cancel charge the $49. At least then they would save face and not look like douches.

9 days later still have ebay plus trial membership, they cant even get right cancelling memberships lol

  • +2

Check your invoices - I got charged for the 2nd membership AND have no membership. Had to live chat with them to get it reversed.

  • lol. just like lawyerz above, i got charged for a service that i havent been able to use because they cancelled, and i got charged twice. one is half price, the other is full. I will live chat with them tomorrow.

Same as above. Got invoiced 48.99 for a service they cancelled. What a scam!

    • and when i want to email them right now, their stupid request form requires item number even the subject of the form is invoice. so i will wait for live chat tomorrow.

    • Me too! just got Invoiced. Cancelled the paypal subscriptions and nothing seems to have been charged. Will wait to see what happens. I emailed them as well for good measure.

    • Same here. Got invoiced 48.99 and no membership. On my e-bay plus page it showed click for free trial.
Previously they probably using a script to auto cancel people with second free trial and for some reason doesn't get updated on their payment system.
