it's not just the reverberations from the bass, but each side also contains a haptic driver that creates vibration, driven by the low frequencies of the music signal itself. it's sort of like the small vibration response from a smartphone that signals a touch input has registered…but for headphones.
if you're into a lot of bass it's worth trying out, and if you're not you can turn it off completely :)
I had an older version of these, and yeah it actually just vibrates the cups for lower frequencies. Cool idea, a bit gimmicky though. Might be better now though.

Also, what the hell is haptic bass feedback? Do they literally just mean the reverberations that happen due to the bass?
