Looks like no free lifetime maps with Via and only more expensive GO Series comes with free map updates.

      I agree. I meant kml22 comment was an overreaction to quasims post. It was a factual post and people can make a buying choice based on that fact.

    I have seen before, on special, satnav systems on sale for $100 with lifetime maps
    would be reasonable to expect the same if I were spending $160

    A company isn't entitled to make money. Businesses only succeed when they provide a useful and in demand product that they can sell for a profit.
    
    I'd say TomTom navigation units are no longer in demand for the majority of people with free and accurate Google maps.
    
    I wouldn't be backing them to still be selling this product in 5 years
