    • +1

      Oooops.
      Sorry my bad.
Was early in the morning….I got little excited when I saw the ads.

Not as good a deal then.
But good for those who need it

  • Great offer! Is there a minimum spend?

    • +1

$3000 in the first 90 days

These are Citi points man. You can't even convert them to Qantas, better go do a little more research and spruce up this post a little.

Use this to see where 100k Citi points can get you - https://www.pointhacks.com.au/community/tools-calculators/cr…

  • +2

It doesn't mention ff/Qantas points anywhere on the citybank webiste, i think they are just reward points.
If you can convert sure the rate is not 1:1

  • +2

These are citi bank points, which cannot be transferred to Qantas Points.

  • +3

These aren't Qantas points, they're Citi bank points.
The site says: "you could exchange 100,000 bonus Citi Points for 40,000 Velocity Points or make up most of the cost of a $500 Flight Centre voucher (worth 104,200 points)."
Not a single mention of Qantas though.

    • Where does it say this? I thought 2 Citi points = 1 Velocity point?

      • Ignore me, different cards different values.

  • +4

Dare i say it: username checks out!

    • Shots fired!

  • How much points for woolworths $100 gift card?

    • I just got a $100 Bunnings voucher for 20,900 points so I assume it’s the same

      • +1

So it is around $500 gift card after the $3K spend

I'm going to neg this as a warning to all those thinking of applying that Citi is one of the hardest to get approved. Many of us have been burned in the past even with perfect repayment history and strong income with no debt if you have applied for many credit cards before in pursuit of points. It is probably easier applying for a million dollars in home loans than get a card from these guys and this is the only issuer many of us can't get a card with.

    • +2

This can be - in part - because Citigroup (Citibank) is the issuer of so many other-brand cards (Virgin, Qantas Money, Coles, …). All it takes is to currently have one of those, and you're much less likely to be approved for any other Citigroup-issued card (but it's not impossible, especially if you're not aiming for the highest level cards).

      • best ask for minimum limit 6k and dont even bother applying if you have done a credit limit increase or applied for one of their branded cards in the past 9 months as its automatically declined.

I have to challenge that statement. I never had any problem obtaining a Citibank card, or a card with most other providers.
Admittedly, I have had my card with them for 10+ years, and was lucky enough to get it on a "no annual fee for life" deal.
The only provider that I could not get a card from was 28 Degrees - every attempt I made was rejected, yet people who work for me (lower salaries, greater levels of debt) got approved.

      • Same. Got my signature card while applying from an overseas IP address, and without providing a shred of documentation.

      • Seconded, no problems at all with Citibank. For those having issues, perhaps try signing up over the phone Have had two cards thus far, even cancelling one on the phone and signing up for the next on the same phone call to take up an offer with no issue. Forgot to cancel within a year (remembered just a few days after the anniversary) and they refunded the annual fee. They have a great Manila call centre who are very helpful, minimal wait time to talk to someone also. Their app and website has been historically very bad but just recently been improved. Best card they offer tho is their debit card - 100% fee free including international transactions

    • Can you name which are easier cards to apply then ?

      • The Amex qantas ultimate card got approved without providing any documents. No payslip no ID. Just had fill out the online form.
For comparison the st George signature was rejected straight after credit check. Didn't own other card, no debts, above minimum income etc. Other people reported to have it approved conditionally and rejected later.

        • random Q, are the amex qantas/virgin trated seaprately in terms of exclusion periods from the normal amex?

I know DJ Amex is separate

    • second that

ive been approved for amex, anz, nab, westpac, st george, commbank

but rejected 3 times in 10 years for citi/virgin

dont know what factors about me they dont like!

oh well, what can you do

      • Same here, I have applied/cycled for many years with ANZ/WESTPAC/CBA and also had st Georges/amex/Coles *2 (when they were with latitude)/28 degrees, never had any issue.
The only 2 times I got rejected was Citibank and virgin a few days ago.
Also when Coles did the transition to Citigroup last year, the CX was just terrible.
I'd just say stay away from Citigroup.

        • Same i have had problems with citigroup but have had improvements recently with them.

My coles card is still doing well when it transitioned to citigroup ive found the currency exchange is even better then before!

    • I applied for the first time min $6,000 credit limit, 2 other credit cards Amex direct and NAB, own 3 properties with 3 mortgages and got approved no problems.

  • +3

Not sure how valid the negs are here. Everyone is different and lenders use so many different variables in determining how they lend money. I have only ever been rejected once, for an ANZ credit card and I have absolutely no idea why. Should I neg all ANZ deals just because of this? I have had many many credit cards from many different lenders (you name it and I've probably had it) and had many at the same time. And I have been surprised that they have lent the money they have to me.

So anyone thinking of going for this deal, don't let the negative comments put you off.

    • +1

It is well documented in previous Citi card deals that many of us who have applied for many cards in the pursuit of points, have been rejected even with a flawless repayment history and no debt. This being Ozbargain, us points chasers isn't a small section of the pie. I don't see why people should not be forewarned especially since for people with high churn, an extra credit enquiry means a longer downtime before the next application.

      • This.
I won't risk any more credit enquiry for Citigroup. Plenty of other better options available all year long.

    • I have cycled 5 cards in last 12 months, 3 of them are Visa Signiture, be it St George or Citi, no issues at all.

  • Can Citi reward points be converted to Cathay AsiaMiles? According to finder (https://www.finder.com.au/the-best-ways-to-use-citi-rewards-…) I don't see it there, and the Citi AU website itself isn't very helpful.

"If you have a Citi Rewards Platinum, Signature or Prestige credit card, you can transfer points to your Virgin Australia Velocity, Emirates Skywards or Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer frequent flyer account."

  • Does anyone know if rates/ land tax is eligible spend?

    • +1

Probably not as it is governmental spend

  • just got approved, but I wasn't asked for my QFF# during the application…not sure if i missed it..
FML - applied for the wrong card…was afer Citibank VISA Signature Qantas Credit Card…wth..

  • Anyone know if Medibank Private's premium is a Cash Advance?

I've asked Medibank but they keep insisting it's up the Credit Card's policy. However, the Card's T&C places the onus on the merchant..

    • I dont think so. Shoul be eligible spend

  • Anyone know where i can buy discounted bunnings gc from? Planning to use this card for buying a lot of them.
