Props to Hawks33 for finding this deal!

Great little video I found about the comparison between this model and the V10 Absolute+ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8npr7dbFwg
- To summarise: Compared to the V10 Absolute, the V11 has 32% more airflow, 30% increased battery life, 5% quieter and the automatic mode with the Torque head

To those wondering:
The only difference (I can find) between the Torque and the Absolute is that the Absolute comes with a soft roller head in addition to the Torque head. However, the Torque head works so well on hard floors and carpets (in auto mode it automatically ramps up suction when moving from hard floors to carpets) that the soft roller is not needed. Also the soft roller really struggles on carpets/rugs (or so I've read).

Also, note that a soft roller from the V10 can be used on the V11 if you so wished.

  • Difference between this and the absolute?

    • +2

Absolute comes with the soft roller head, but if you watch the video you will see why that's not really a benefit as the Torque Drive is just as good and also works on carpet/rugs.

    • +1

I have a V11 Absolute Pro and a house with LOTS of hard floors. The soft roller head is much better on shiny, polished surfaces - especially tiles.

      • -4

I have neither so I can't comment. What does it do better specifically?

        • +6

          Vacuum

        • +2

          floors

          • +1

@cute as duck: Never would have thought… I meant does it spit/knockout debris out less. Or maybe the torque has issue with suction or scratches the floor.

If it's knocking debris before vacuuming it then maybe the gates on the brush haven't been fully opened up.

        • +1

Lower fiction as you move across the timber floors (Mrs finds it particularly noticeable) and it's like the high-gloss tiles have been "polished".

      • -1

So if v 11 does not have soft roller and used on tiles
        It takes shine away?

  • i have a dc35 and a v10, i sorta want this one but i sorta dont need it.

    • The V11 has 32% more airflow, 30% increased battery life and the automatic mode with the Torque head. It's a decent step up but probably not worth upgrading unless you need those performance boosts.

    • +1

May as well buy it, can never spend too much on dustbusters.

    • I have the dc35, was the v10 worth the upgrade?

      • +1

The v10 I got recently craps on the DC31.

The larger bucket is super helpful and it empties in-line, which results in less mess. No comment on difficulty to clean, as I haven't had to do it yet - in contrast, the DC31 completely disassembles and you can soak the barrel and the vortex piece as they come apart from the motor section.

We have the V10 at our holiday house, where I generally zip around with it on low-power mode, which the previous generations (and the lower models?) don't have. On this mode, the battery lasts a thorough once-over or two visits if I'm just rushing through it to pick up any dust. The battery cannot be removed, so hot-swapping with another to finish the job is not a thing.

It's basically brand new, so I can't really speak to experience with it after some time, but the DC31 seemed to tank in battery capacity almost immediately after getting it, which the V10 has not done (yet).

I can't comment on a comparison with the sticks, as the DC31 doesn't have one, but the V10's head is much better than the DC54's; it turns and gets under things a lot more effortlessly. The 54 is a completely different monster, though, so I don't know how applicable that information is.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with some better comparisons, but I /am/ happy with mine even though I'm still a bit iffy about the price tag; I spent the same on the DC54 Animal, which, albeit missing tech such as a powered motor head (it sacrifices suction to run a turbine), is still my primary vac at home because batteries simply cannot replace what it offers.

  • +8

At this pace, V12 will be out next month

    • +3

      And then the V13, 14, 15 ….

      • +7

Can’t wait for Dyson to have more cylinders and turbo chargers than a Bugatti veyron, probs v18, 6 super chargers producing over 1600 horsepower

  • +3

I’m afraid to buy without the soft head.

The non soft head shoots cat biscuits around the house but the soft roller gets them.

Is this new head gonna work on cat biscuits?

    • +1

I recommend watching the video I linked. As long as you open the gates up all the way on the Torque head, it seems to pretty much pick up everything in one go.

Click this link and it will start the video at the right section: https://youtu.be/R8npr7dbFwg?t=391

      • +1

Ahhhh they are clever aren’t they.

Now do I need a 3rd Dyson. I seem so be upgrading every year like my iPhone haha

        • +1

          No, probably not haha

    • +3

Eat the biscuits before you suck them.

  • +8

Really want to upgrade the ole V6 but I personally can't part with 1K for a vacuum.

    • or have to stop and empty the dust bowl 3 times to get the house done

  • +2

    great description OP :)

  • +7

    next generation on ozbargain:

guys, just found out myer have the latest dyson V73 model on sale for only $14,350, jump on it!

    • +1

Sounds amazing!! Are you taking pre-orders? :D

  • +7

Another company following Apple and Samsung (and et al) in raising the RRPs of each generation of products…their technology, which has brought them to fame, is also their demise…(since less and less consumers need to “upgrade” and are happy with their current versions). That aside, it’s really hard to justify buying such an expensive vacuum (and yes, I am a loyal Dyson consumer over the recent years; parting with $800 for a V8 around 2 years ago, and $600 for a V6….then DC59….then DC23).

    If I didn’t own a Dyson, then I would consider getting a V11.

    • +2

Rich people don’t even care about that just want the best and will buy it anyway as they don’t care about the price.
      Others will complain.

I wouldn’t feel good with spending over 300$ for vacuum, just makes no sense to me.

      • +4

Me neither. You can get 4 V6 models, throughout the house for 1 RRPs of a V12. I got 2. When battery starts having issues I just buy them on eBay which have a bigger battery than the original and they are super cheap.

I'm sure the v12 doesn't have as much battery life as 4 v6s combined. Never had any issues with how much suction power or that it's 5% quieter (never noticed it was that loud).

Become a bit of a joke this pricing for a vacuum cleaner.

        • Good idea! I looked online and found these things only last around 3years before you need a new battery…. Average Dyson battery has 500 charge cycles. New Dyson battery = $85ea + shipping.

        • Which battery did you buy they all look kind of dodgy

      • -3

Heh. Rich people don’t vacuum…I can’t even fathom holding a tool used by the dirty proles.

Source: Am rich. Not a 9-5 wagecuck. Sans Dyson.

      • +1

        Rich people

I doubt many Dyson owners are rich, they're just what it looks like, people losing $1000 every year or two.

        • My cleaner has a Dyson. I think…anyway it’s definitely a poor person thing.

    • +2

No one is happy with their current model judging from the comments, everyone here wishes they had more V’s.

      • Marketing doesn't work on anybody so obviously they just decided to spend $1000 on vacuum cleaners on their own every few years.

        Smart eh.

        • +1

I want to know how V11 even works, wouldn’t an 11-cylinder vacuum engine not work, don’t you need an even number of cylinders to get the V shape.

          • @AustriaBargain: Uh… Trolling?

V11 is a model name and does not reference the number of cylinders

  • Got the v11 through a corporate deal and although it is still very expensive, it is well worth it. Definitely replaces a corded vacuum and a lot better than their previous cordless ones. The v11 is what the v10 should have been

    • +8

Will V12 be what the V11 should have been in the future?

      • Well, i thought the v10 was what the v8 should have been.

        So, probably.

  • I tried both V10 and V11 at David Jones the other day, V11 feels a lot quieter than V10?

    • +3

Yeah emits about 5% less decibels.

Not sure why people are negging this, I haven't conducted scientific, double blind placebo trials myself but if you have a look here it seems to be a decent comparison: https://youtu.be/R8npr7dbFwg?t=378

      • +1

lol why are you getting negs.

      • You surely know a lot about statistics

  • It's a shame the Dok for V11 is so crappy compared to the amazing Dok for the V10.

    • What were they thinking?
      https://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories/dyson-v11-dok-969944-0…
That’s awful. I bought the V10 just for the dok.

      • Same. Got the free Dok deal, otherwise wouldn't have bothered.

It comes with a nice and premium looking case with 5 tools inside it. A couple of them are redundant but whatever.

    • They are copying lg with their self standing dock, included with the machine, but for Dyson like who the hell would buy that as an accessory

  • No doubt Myer will cancel orders like they always do

  • What do you guys predict the Dyson electric car gonna cost relative to the Tesla model s

  • -1

Oh I see Dyson have improved the floor head after telling them that my Dyson head cracked 2 months after buying the v8, good to see my feedback is being responded to

  • I'd like to know how Xiaomi Dreame v9 fares against the Dyson v11?
Everything considered and weighed against each other, wouldn't the Xiaomi Dreame still be the better buy?

    • +1

      It's two Vs less.

  • The advertisements which shows how easy these are to empty looks like a great improvement over the V6.
However my V6 Motorhead is still kicking on like new, battery life still great, no complaints so I can't justify the upgrade.

  • Whats the difference compared to this and the one selling on toby’s deal https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/dyson-v11-animal-c… ?? if any1 can help me out on this, planning to buy one !! Thanks in advance.

    • I've updated bio. This is a grey import but I think that the Dyson international warranty includes it, so not sure if there is a difference?

    • Did you end up getting one from Tobys ?

I am tossing up between the V11 Animal on Toby vs V10 Motorhead for $597. Is $200 worth the difference between the two vacuums ?

      https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/dyson-cyclone-v10-…

      • Ended ip buying from ebay ;) paid more than toby’s deal.

  • +1

I am inclined to buy this because i am sick of my V8 running out of battery 1/2 way through Vacuuming.

    • +1

Getting a stick as your daily driver changes the way you vac. Instead of doing the whole house at once, split it up. Though I guess if you want to do it all in one day, this would solve that problem.

I have 3 stick vacs, but my daily is still a corded barrel vac. The sticks are for spot cleans only, or when I need to get to places that are hard to get to.

Or if I see a spider up high and can't be bothered grabbing the barrel and plugging it in, I just go and grab a stick and suck the spider in.

      • Same I have a barrel and 1 v8, just wondering does your barrel get extremely after like 1 h of vacuuming, I even does and i’m Afraid it will explode

        • Not at all. And its suction is super powerful.

A Dyson at full blast is also powerful, but it only lasts 6 or 7 minutes.

I love vacuuming at full power. The loud sound of that spinning turbo brush is so satisfying.

          • @lostn: No I mean does your barrel get hot after vacuuming

            • @[Deactivated]: It gets a bit warm if you set it on max. Wouldn't call it hot.

              • @lostn: Maybe my Dyson has problems should get it checked out

  • Still too much I think. 650-700 is where I’d like to be with it.

  • I am thinking of purchasing a hand vac for quick clean up jobs around the house.

1000 is a bit much, does anyone think its worth the purchase if you do NOT have a stick vac already, the v7 is quite cheap now.

    • It is definitely worth it. Changed to cordless recently and it is so much quicker to pick up and go

      • I find Dyson way too expensive considering how long the battery last. The price would be worth it if the battery could be removed to fit another charged one, like the LG. All cordless garden tools have changeable battery, Dyson should do the same with their vacuums.

  • I have the DC35 from 2013. Although it's a pain to clean, it hasn't missed a beat.
Anyone else had a similar upgrade?

  • Anyone know if myer in store will price match myer ebay + the 20%? I'm not hopeful but have points to use.

    • I'd be doubtful since eBay usually carries a lot of the discount. Why not just try calling?

      • I've tried to do this; however, not successful.
