Buy a Google Pixel 3a ($649) and Get a Free Google Home Mini @ Google Store (Save $45)

160

Just got the email. Looks like you just add the home mini to your cart and it's free.

Pixel 3a reviews look good and the pricing seems good given the camera in them ($649 3a and $799 3axl). So not a bad offer to get a free Google home mini if you were planning to get one anyway.

Buy a Pixel 3a or Pixel 3a XL through 2019/05/09 at 11:59pm AEST and redeem one Google Home Mini. Offer available only to residents of Australia aged 18 years or older with shipping addresses in Australia. All products must be added to your shopping cart to receive the bundle offer. Offer cannot be combined with any promotional codes, or with other bundle offers running at the same time. It's non-transferable, and it isn't valid for cash or a cash equivalent. Any bargains

You mean like a free Google home mini?

      • +4

Depends on the price of the phone…

        • +4

The phone is at the cheapest price it has ever been as well. Should I include that in the description as well?

          • @sparkanum: I think so. Thanks for sharing!

          • +3

@sparkanum: Wait for a bit and it will be discounted. Will be a better deal. $650 for a mid range phone is not a bargain.

            • @onlinepred: Couldn't you say that about every deal posted here? Wait and it'll get cheaper?

I'm not buying one either way, but figured people intending to would like to know they can get a free home mini if they did.

          • @sparkanum: cheapest price yet because it was only released today and there has been no pixel 3a before

Google must be at the point that they'll just start throwing Google Home Minis at people from their Street View cars.

    • +12

That actually sounds plausible. I'm going to wait outside today just in case they do. Will post if I get anything.

        Don't forget your helmet.

Wish Google had offered Chromebook along with the Pixel 3a lineup like they are offering in UK.

    • Apparently Australians "don't want" Chromebooks. Or rather, retail stores got sick of dealing with the "why doesn't my Windows app work on this?" queries/returns and decided it was easier just not to stock them.

It's a bit like the whole declining rates of manual transmissions in new cars here over the last decade or so - corporates decided that it's not worth giving the option to consumers in Aus, so then people aren't able to see / be exposed to them as much (learners unlikely to have parents who drive one) and demand reduces even further. A vicious cycle.

worst. deal. ever. Phone is at a decent price but the BONUS offer is hardly anything to yawn about. The side-by-side review from The Verge showed how much slower it is, but still a better low-light camera than iPhones. Should be a decent purchase for the oldies or young ones

      • so are you saying you haven't earned every cent required to pay for this new device and happy that a bloke who has worked the same hours as you (for no reason) gets the same device for less + a higher value Bonus offer?

Power to you. I'm not keen on that

        • +2

I've read that three times now and still have no idea what you're trying to say.

What I'm saying is: google offering a bonus product as a free add on when they don't have to and then you complaining about it not being good enough makes you a choosing beggar.

          • +3

@sparkanum: Choosing beggar? a CB i am not i have the S10 Plus so i'm good. just stating facts that we get the raw end for no apparent reason…or valid reason.

I'm not demanding anything free…i believe we should get equal value to what most other countries are getting. Equal value thats relative.

            Here is the basic theory
            USD 399 + 100 Store credit = essentially $299 + Accessories.
converted to a fluctuating exchange rate, thats ~$568AUD
            Pixel Stand is $79USD
            Case is $39USD
which puts you $20USD over or ~$28AUD

AUD retails at $649 + Bonus GHM (17.99 value via Spotify Family)
            Pixel Stand is $119
            Case is $59

Your AUD grand total is suddenly $827AUD vs ~$596USD for the same product.

@ExtraSalt: If your yawn point was around the "Australia tax" on electronics then all good. I didn't get that from any of your posts. I respectfully retract my CB declaration.

For your comparison though, it might be easier to say that for 399 usd you get an extra 2 ghms. Ie $399usd down = $570aud, which nets you a pixel 3a and 3 ghms (~100 gift card). Whereas for $649 aud you only get 1 ghm. So price difference is (649 - 570 + 2 x 45 = 169 aud). That way you don't get the confusion around bringing extra products to the equation.

            • +1

@ExtraSalt: You forgot to add the Tax Americans pay ontop of listed prices….

    • +1

How can Google offer USD$100 credit for the same phone in the US and only offer Aussie the Google Home Mini which is worth around A$40 or $USD28.

      • I have a feeling they care more about the American market than the Australian one, users will probably provide them with more relevant data.

Lmao a plastic phone. What is this, 2010?

    • +2

I'm no horologist, but I think it's 2019. I personally like the plastics over glass / metal so each to their own.

      • Do you like no gorilla glass too? Most mid range phones have better screen protection.

      • -1

nice reply bro such a zinger bro you got me man fwark bruh you smart and quick bruh.

but tru each to their own.

  • +2

please remember the storage is emmc not ufs.

    • No dedicated Google imaging chip in these compared to the full-fat Pixel models too. This phone really is a bit of a mirage, unfortunately. Would rather get a refurbished S9+ for similar money.

  • +1

    the pricing is good!

But I won't tell you what it is.

  • $649 3a, $799 3aXL

  • Do they share the same camera and app like there crippled older siblings?

    • +1

Same amazing camera. The one which was regularly used as the benchmark for "best smartphone camera" until the huawei p30 launched.

Man, so much hate this morning.

      • Well to be fair they still don't have optical zoom, macro or wide angle. Things that have been mostly standard for years.

  • +1

    Comparison to US pricing:

    US$399 = AUD$569 + 10% GST = $626.00

So AU$649.00 here in Australia is pretty much bang on, allowing for slight fluctuations in the AUD.

    • You are forgetting that Americans pay tax ontop of the listed price…. So it's probably another $40 USD give or take depending on the State

  • any dual sim yet on Pixel range?

  • +2

Pretty disapointed in the price of the phone, you can get an S9 or a Samsung A70 for the same price.
Hope there are some discounts as I'd rather not buy another Samsung phone for a family member.

  • I wonder when google will start breaking into peoples homes to give people google minis by any means necessary.

  • +1

They give you a privacy invader for free.

When is Google going to put a camera on Google home so they can take your nude photos?

    • +1

      They have, nest hub max!

  • I genuinely love my pixel 2xl for the simplicity and great simple to use camera.

I need to get a phone for my partner.

What's better Google pixel 3a vs Google pixel 2xl at similar price point?

  • +1

My local JB just matched the Google Store deal for me on a 3a XL + Home Mini, so that's definitely worth a try if you don't want to wait for postage.
