Can’t you get the Foxtel app on your iPad or iPhone?
Can’t you get a lightning to hdmi connector?
Then connect phone /ipad to your tv?

      don't they block this?

Thanks for the suggestion but iphone/ipad battery run down very quick, so cannot watch it for a long time

        Connect to charger. Problem solved.

      • Plug it in mate.

        • +1

Ryanek what do you mean "plug it in mate"?

          • @jowu15: Tablet device foxtel go app -> chrome cast or apple tv

If you have a iPad pro it works quite nicely for watching shows in bed. You can plug your device into the charger to stop battery drainage.

      • apple hdmi adaptor has a power input

Is there anyone know how to use Fox Now Box which is on sale at Kogan at the moment.

    1. Buy Fox Now box
    2. Connect to TV
    3. Buy Foxtel Now subscription
    4. Watch TV
    • I have a Foxtel subscription, so I should have Fox Now as well dont I ? I need to check it

      • +1

Actually, I meant Foxtel Go. It is included with your subscription.
You can watch through app or browser, but I think that you cannot cast from the app unless you have a multi-room subscription?!?
        https://www.foxtel.com.au/foxtel-go.html

      • +5

Unfortunately not… Foxtel Subscription has Foxtel Go with it. Foxtel Now is separate. Those Kogan foxtel now boxes only work with Now, not go

  • I don't think you can use foxtel now for a regular foxtel sub, its one or the other

  • The Foxtel Now box is the same price ($59) from the Foxtel eBay store:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Foxtel-Now-Box/142573387010

There are also quite a few auctions on eBay of new or near new Foxtel Now boxes that you might be able to pick up cheaper.

However, my understanding is that you need to pay extra for a Foxtel Now subscription, on top of what you're already paying Foxtel. Maybe it'd be cheaper/easier for you to get a second box from Foxtel - I think they call it Multiroom. It used to be $10 a month extra, but who knows nowdays. I gave up on Foxtel ages ago - too much money for too little.

Move bed, etc. to lounge room. Move lounge, etc. to bedroom.

Move bed, lounge etc every day, twice a day! Great exercise

  • pay for an additional outlet

If you have a Foxtel subscription run Foxtel Go on a PC or laptop using Chrome. Have Chromecast on TV, right click in Chrome with Foxtel Go running, choose cast, done.

    • +1 for this

    • Foxtel Go will also work from hdmi direct to TV via PC. You do not need a multi room subscription for this BTW. Probably only a matter of time before they find a way to block it however.

You can use foxtel go on google chromecast now. So just stream it from your phone. I actually got a foxtel outlet put in my bedroom foe $80 and a iq3 box is $15 a month (non recording) or $25 a month if you want to record with it.

Foxtel says this only works if you have a multi-room subscription:

"The ability to cast content to another TV without a Foxtel set-top box is only available if you subscribe to a Multiroom service on your account."

  • (&*^^^&^^ Foxtel and their "extras", I pay for Foxtel already why on god's earth should I pay extra to get MY signal to a second room????

What you want is a "video sender". Do not go El cheapo route as the signal is easily blocked by walls flooring etc. Do some research before you buy to find out the flaws/best price/best model, I can't advise as it has been years since I looked at the matter.

Foxtel Go is far simpler, free and better quality.

      • I am taking Kingsville's word on this (Quoted from above)

Foxtel says this only works if you have a multi-room subscription:

"The ability to cast content to another TV without a Foxtel set-top box is only available if you subscribe to a Multiroom service on your account."

        • Chromecast streaming only works on a multi-room subscription.

You can watch on a laptop, phone, PC just fine and dandy. All of these devices can also connect to your TV if preferred.

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: That is wrong, I have a single room subscription but have no issues casting from PC to another room.

            • @Svenlem: That's literally what my previous post just said. Lol.

            • @Svenlem: perhaps Foxtel can restrict casting from the app on phone/tablet, but casting from PC cannot be restricted?!?

  • How about a 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch. If your TVs are 1080p, then you can pickup a good deal from ebay US on secondhand wyrestorm or binary hdmi matrix switch (e.g. B-300 or B-520) that can do 1080p and supports bi-directional IR. People are all moving to 4k, so you can get great deals on 1080p stuff.

If TVs are 4k, things become a bit more costly and you have to look at a no-name 4k units.

I'm using a really old Binary B-210 and I've been able to get Foxtel series 3 box, mac mini, and fetch TV to display on any TV in house, and same input on all TVs if you want it.

  • Smash a hole in the bedroom wall. Look through hole at the TV. Problem solved.

  • I find watching foxtel on a television the best. Suggest you try a tv.

I bought one of these CAT6 HDMI Spliter & IR Extender kit's from Lindy for $130: https://www.lindy.com.au/cat6-hdmi-ir-extender-1080p-50m-460…

You plug the HDMI out of the Foxtel box, we have a IQ2, into the Kit and then a HDMI cable from the kit to the local TV. I then ran a single piece of CAT6 from the family room to our home theatre through the roof. The sender has a very small power adaptor and sends power over the CAT6 to the remote end. On the IQ2 I double sided taped the IR blaster near the IQ'2 IR port and in the home theatre I put the kit's IR receiver where it will receive signal from a remote. It has dip switches to set the length of the cable. Works perfectly, I can't tell of any picture or sound degradation. The trick with these kits is that the ethernet cable mustn't have any joins or go through structured cabling infrastructure (patch panel). I've had it working for over two years now so the cost of the kit completely paid it self off for not having a second room on the Foxtel bill.

  • Here’s another one, a bit cheaper at $99.

    https://www.ezyhd.com.au/shop/hdmi-cat5e6-1x2-splitter-ir-ed…

Lots of other stuff on the website that can be used as well.

    • That looks exactly like the Lindy kit I bought, just cheaper. Probably all made by the same factory in China just re branded.
