This is Amazon US so, you have to factor in tax of 10%. With tax this is more expensive than previous deals. Also, almost nobody has Amazon Prime for US.

Thanks for the heads up, didn't know about that

The applicable duty may be more than 10%. The legislation allows for collection of costs related to the GST as well as other costs which can be levied in.
My workplace recently sent a test unit to the USA for calibration (we already owned it), calibration cost approx A$440 including shipping after conversion and our duty was charged at $148

      • You are correct, and I think we're going to see more of this in the future as goods enter the country.

I believe the GST can apply to the cost of the commercial value of the goods landed and delivered in Australia (eg. they could say $45 dollars for a processor that retails for AU$450 ex GST), they could also apply customs duties if applicable and charge you the GST on any insurance paid for the shipment as well as customs processing disbursement charges.

In theory, in addition to the purchase price you could receive an Aus customs invoice for around $90-120 for this processor (while they hold the shipment), but it's not going to happen to every shipment.

Prime is free shipping for $49 and over in the US you don't need US Prime.

Yes however this is direct from the Amazon US site. Not Amazon US via AU. Look it up.

Good post but probably best for most people to buy through the local deal

  • Not worth it vs comp alliance with free game redemption

Shops getting ready for Ryzen 3000

    • Yeah, good deal for those building a new system, but if you already have an AM4 system you are better off waiting a couple of months for the next gen. Should be supported on most current AM4 motherboards after a bios update.

      • X570 - the upcoming chipset supports PCIe 4.0 and includes support for USB 3.1 gen 2 ports.

The lack of a cheap non-A chipset motherboard in ITX form factor really holds me back on buying these AMD CPUs for htpc use case. Anything coming soon?
