Kayo To TV - Chromecast Ultra or Android TV?

Hi all,

Just pulled the trigger on recent Kayo 5 Bux for 1 month deal, have enjoyed so far due to NRL but am looking to lift my game and get the TV or Projector involved, so my question is…

What are others using or reccomend by way of Chromecast Ultra Vs Android Tv Box to make Kayo hit the big screen(s)

Thanks in advance.

  • I use Apple Tv 4k and regularly get pauses in the broadcast as well as audio drop outs for around 10 to 15 seconds. I have heard this is a problem while using Kayo through Apple Tv 4k as others don't seem to be getting the issues. From another forum quite a few other users are reporting the smoothest experience through Android TV Box or the Shield.

  • I have plugged my Chromecast 2 into my cheap-arse Vivibright GP100 to watch through Kayo with no problems. The projector has lame onboard audio, so additional audio hardware advisable.

    • My point being, my old version of Chromecast has been reliable.

      • Ditto

        Also use a MiBox3
        Good experience on both.
Personally I dislike Android TV, as I find that navigating using a remote is slow and inefficient, so we Chromecast to the MiBox.

The general recommendation is the Vodafone TV… It is an Android TV box with Chromecast Ultra inbuilt all for less than a Chromecast Ultra.

      • thanks i want to also stream sport from my PC to a TV and was looking at getting a chromecast. IS there any reason i would get an Ultra over chromecast 2?

        • Ultra picture quality will be better. The main advnatge is that it can output 60fps at 1080p versus the CC2 30fps at 1080p.
If you're buying a CC, get the Ultra, it's a bargain.

  • Chromecast if you like casting from your devices.

Voda TV if you want a box which will give you casting plus more. Not sure if the voda box has the kayo app yet. Mi box and shield do though.

  • Using Chromecast Ultra and casting from my phone for Kayo no issues at all.
Would be awesome if you could watch 2 sports at once on the TV like you can on the phone, maybe one day they will update

  • I've found kayo casting s10 to hisense (2 TV's.) laggy. Watchable, but low quality and out of sync.
Cast Samsung phone Kayo to Samsung TV - flawless.

    • How do you do that from samsung phone to samsung tv without the chromecast?

  • Android TV has proven to be the best of the bunch, with the Shield or Mi Box giving you all Kayo features and none of the issues seen with the other apps / devices.

  • Vodafone TV, cheap and works very well.

  • Works fine on my Chromecast 1. Won't cast direct to my Samsung TV though :(
