    Minimum income $100,000

    Whos a high earner here??

  • Unlimited access to over 1,200 lounge across 130 countries

Does this only work if you book with the card ? or just show you card and be let in ?

Last time I had a card from Amex so many places didn't take it or added a huge extra surcharge I ended up never using it and cancelled it. Still the same ?

    • It probably refers to the complimentary Priority Pass membership which offers unlimited access to "contracted" lounges. Quality of lounges vary widely. On a separate note, the "increased" bonus reward points is misleading as, from 15 April this year, the conversion rate has been halved, ie you only get 60k Qantas points, as an example, should you decide this is what you want. Similar devaluation applies to conversion to other frequent flyer programs, Asia Miles for CX, etc.

    • You have to show a boarding pass

  • Do AMEX stipulate that you are not allowed to advertise the free reserve card that you can get with this, or is that not a thing anymore?

Don't worry, you're just losing almost 1.5% of your yearly income, if you meet the minimum requirements.

The larger losses begin later on.

Working out dumber and dumber ways to lose money is called "hacking" now apparently.

No deal. Used to be equivalent 100-120k airline miles with previous deals, now 120k MR only worth 60k airline miles.

@OP, please tell Amex that no one bother applies now. They need to up their exclusive promo deal to 200k bonus MR or more.

Poor deal now Amex points worth half of what they were earlier in the year. Only 60,000 airline points now for $1450 is not a deal - huge annual fee and acceptance issues and surcharges on the spend. Needs to be 290,000 new membership reward points for it to be worthwhile…

It’s an absolute joke. The same kind of card in US is $550

    Hi OP,
Was gonna be a great deal and wanted to apply but am not eligible due to holding an AMEX Card. 😢😢 Recommend you edit your post to to include the below:

"Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer.
American Express don’t allow existing Card Members, even for different types of American Express cards (e.g. Charge, Credit or Business) to be eligible for bonus points" offers for cards in a different family.

Not a good deal for what you pay. Even the first year isn't free.

  • +9

    Do you accept amex?
    No.
    But I pay 1,450 p.a.

And I earn more than 100k. Cheers.

Not worth the annual fee after Amex points devaluation in April.

  • I have always wanted to know how much Amex pays the referrer for each successful card application.

  • $1450 for the privileged of generating amex income by using the card. no thanks

  • They ruined it by gutting the FF conversation rates. About to cancel mine

  • +1

Not a deal with points reval and high annual fee. Also min spend has to be met each month for 3 months to get full 120k.

  • +1

thanks for the insight folks, that's a big no from me then.

  • If they halve the annual fee for the first year then this might be worth it, otherwise this is a poor deal and AMEX is banking on people being uninformed..
