Free Downloadable Magazines and Comics via Library and RBDigital

170

I've seen similar deals on Ozbargain but worth re-posting due to Rbdigital's easy process and high quality app:

Download and read magazines and comics for free via your local library. Ideal for iPads and other tablets: the app provides a downloadable high res copy of the magazine that can be flicked through as if it were a hard copy.

Example of titles: National Geographic, (Wo)Men's Health, Empire, Better Homes and Gardens, Marvel comics and many others.

This works with most libraries, including rural ones. You will need a free membership. The selection of magazine titles depends on your library, but RBdigital supports multiple libraries per account.

General instructions (can vary per library):
- Download RBDigital App;
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ocd&hl=en_…
IOS: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/rbdigital/id515311743?mt=8

  • Create account and log in with your library card number;
  • Browse magazines, add them to your basket and check out for free;
  • Start reading in the app!

Below you will find a list of main libraries per capital state. Alternatively, just Google the name of your library + "Rbdigital" to get instructions.

  • Good to know: RBDigital used to be Zinio. People seem to prefer the old Zinio app, but libraries have switched to RBDigital.

  • Ouch! - The IOS reviews Slam it…

    ZINIO 'was' a great app..

  • No comic books for the West Australian public libraries that I can see… :(

    • I was going to suggest a cardless membership with the Melbourne library, but it looks like they lock you out of eMagazines until they can verify a (Victorian) address.

      • Try any other library service in the state, some will allow eresources access with a virtual membership, others won't. Though with COVID, many are. You just need a Victoria address to join any public library - I'd recommend Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries or Eastern Regional Library. Or try your own local library service.

    • Send an email to your MP and McGowan. I am. There's no reason WA shouldn't provide what the other state libraries provide. If you don't ask….
