  • Hope there's an OzBargain lanch promo like this one in March:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/41323
where the $15 plan was discounted to $11

I'd be jumping right on that.

  • I'm on the $11 plan and I got told that i'd get upgraded to the new plan for free. But the $8 plan usage cap isn't enough for me and the $15 is too much. The jump is too big. I like my current one both in terms of price and usage cap (includes 1300, 1800 numbers). I'd be p'ssed if i'm forced to pay $15 month (since $8 plan is clearly not enough)

    • Your pissed because for only $4 extra a month you get an extra 500MB data and 13/18 numbers and video calls also included in the cap?

      • I'm in the same, or a similar, boat (Discovery 1 @ $11). It's been a fair run at a very nice price. My 'personal migration' data isn't available as yet so I'll send off an email after the next week if I don't find out where I'm actually going to end up.

For the extra $4 it will drop from a contract, give me free social site access, an extra GB of data and an extra $70 of calls to anyone (albeit at a rate of 5 cents higher per minute of call).
        Seems okay to me.

      • But the point is, I don't need that extra. My usage has been fine @ 500mb per month. My current plan includes 13/1800 numbers. I don't go on social network sites. So why do I need to pay extra for things I'm not gonna use? They should have something in between $8 and $15.

        • It says at: http://liveconnected.com.au/index.php/sim-only/upcoming-plan…

"Any purchases on the Discovery (Series V) Medium or Heavy after May 20th 2011, will be automatically upgraded for FREE to the Pioneer (Series I)".

So that doesn't include you. Who told you that you would be forced to upgrade? Usually people can stay on their old plans if they wish.

Anyway, at the end of the day it's only the cost of a cup of coffee for the upgrade and well worth it for me.

        • Lol, coz they sent me an email telling me I'd be upgraded. People on the old plans have received an email regarding that.

I know the amount is small, but I'd rather put that small amount into something that has value to me.

This is a good deal for more heavy users though.

        • yeah My mum got that email too.

She was on a $7 discovery plan with $400 LC2LC and $200 LC2anyone and now for $8 she'd be getting $135 and $145 respectively. Plus she doesn't use data/social networks so that's a waste as well. The plans are only good for people paying more than $15 a month IMO

But still better than TPG ones unless they release competing plans as well

  • I will patiently wait for intenational calls to be included. TPG international rates are not bad, but Liveconnected should introduce a plan with international calls to win many more customers.

  • Nice, but still the $450/GB trap.
I would not want to be once of those guys posting about their multi-thousand dollar bills.

Do they still delay metering by a couple of days?
Any option for SMS alerts as you approach the limit? Shaping?

    • They send you an email when you hit a certain limit of cap usage I think. And their meter afaik is delayed by about 24hrs.

  • Did anyone who's on the $4.99 Discovery 19 (Series 4)(one with 200mb data) get an email about migrating to a new plan? I havent got an email yet, and it says 'n/a' under 'new plan' in my account. I assume that means no plan change for people on this plan, but I wana confirmation from others.

Edit: nvm, LC said on FB that it wont be affected. Awesome.

    • Yeah All last year plans are being upgraded but not the ones taken this year

      • Except of course for the currently offered Discovery Series V plans (Lite, Medium, Heavy) which will be discontinued with a free upgrade to the corresponding Pioneer plan. I'm on Discovery Series IV, not sure what the deal is there.

        • no upgrade or change. I'm on the same one as well. My dad on the one before that and Mum on the Discovery II

        • So if we want to go on the Pioneer series we have to cancel our current plan, wait 30 days, port out our number, then reapply for the Pioneer plan?

        • I emailed LiveConnected. If you're on one of the Discovery Series 4 plans you can upgrade to the Pioneer plans for free as well. For an extra $4 a month (medium plan) it's well worth it for inclusion of national video calls and 13/18 numbers, as well as an extra 500MB of data.

  • The new plans are now available to purchase

Now to wait for an ozbagain special on the Medium…
